The place is decorated with character and unity of theme. The service is enthusiastic and good but the staff could use with a brush up of pronunciation of French and English food terms.The plating look absolutely gorgeous. The plating look absolutely gorgeous. But taste wise they either lack taste, or have taste combinations that really do not work well, or food ingredients put together more for looks than taste. Very disappointing, really.
My starter was a dish of lamb on coco beans. The lamb is not of superior quality and frankly had no lamb fragrance compared to the best. But the main sauce of the dish was a large cream of mint. The green color sets off the look very well. But the mint taste simply overpowered the coco beans and the lamb.
Another dish was crab, with crab meat covered by a perfect piece of purple endive, a glazed piece of snow crab leg and a dollop of caviar. Looked spectacular, but involved hardly any culinary flair.
My companion had a dish of onion with truffles drowned in a sweet dark sauce and the truffle taste was in discernable.
Their signature dish was a large vol-au-vent filled with seafood in a seafood cream sauce. Tasted fine but the pasty was huge, which by comparison made the filling look miniscule. The waitress actually recommended eating the filling first before eating the pasty. Absolutely not. Total lack of training did not prevent her from making it all up.
