My friend just came back from Japan and she still wants more Japanese food. I asked my other friends for some suggestions and they told me to try "Arashiyama". We arrived there at around 7pm. We ordered the dinner set for two so we don't need to think. The side dish came first, I like the jellyfish stripes very much, they were yummy and chewy. The snapper tomato salad was delicious. The snapper was fresh and cut into thin slices. They were very meaty and tasted very nice with the salad dressing. The veggies were fresh and crispy. The tomato was sweet and soft.
The Hokkaido oysters were next. I love them very much because they were big and fresh. The sauce they use was sour but matched so well with the oyster. It was so smooth and slide right through my throat.
Sashimi combo was nicely presented.
👉Fatty toro was my favourite. It was so meaty and soft. It just melted in my mouth.
👉Yellow tail was soft and fresh but I prefer the heated up one.
👉Snapper was my all time favourite. It was so meaty and thick. I like the texture very much.
👉Shrimp was sweet and slimy.
👉Scallop was big and soft. It was a bit slimy as well so I like it very much.
The type of sushi that they provided in this set were quite unique.
👉Frame Hirame was my first time to try. It was meaty and the texture was actually quite hard to chew.Mackerelshad was fresh and soft to chew. When I saw the Snow crab sushi, I was like what is it on the top...... It was actually the crab's roe. I thought it might be very fishy but it actually tasted quite good. The crab was in stripes and soft to eat. There was also the Canada fresh sea urchin, it was also my first time to try it. It wasn't fishy at all. The texture was soft and slimy. I ate it with a bit of soya sauce.
Grilled Boston lobster with sea urchin was so yummy. I love the sauce very much, it was so smooth and creamy. I think they mixed the sea urchin with lots of mayo. The lobster was so meaty. It was so easy to take out and eat.
Grilled Japanese beef with foie gras was delicious. The beef was tender and soft. It tasted so good with the crispy garlic. The beef was so juicy and easy to chew. It was seasoned perfectly. I was amazed with the pan-fried foie gras because this one is the best one so far. It wasn't oily and the sauce lifted up the taste. They used French bread as the base and the texture of the bread tasted very well with the foie gras.
The high-light of the night was the mixed vegetables with udon in snapper soup. We were amazed with the soup. It was amazingly delicious!!!!!!! It wasn't fishy at all!!!!! It was sweet!!!!!!!!! They also use the flat udon instead of the normal one. The udon was stretchy and not too soft. Me and my friend drank up the whole bowl of soup.
To finish up, we got the tofu and black sesame ice-cream. They were very smooth.
