I am lucky to have a BFF who shares the same interest in afternoon tea. And the point of doing it is to enjoy a leisure, relaxed girls’ time. Food quality, environment and service are all important. We came Palm Court for its location, and easiness to book. It really was easy. The lounge area was very available when we arrived that we were able to change to a bigger table with higher privacy. ( don’t understand why they gave us a table just right in front of the steps in the middle when there were so many other tables.)
It was a classic set with three layers. The first two layers were sweet and the last layer was for savoury. The 3-layer shelf stood next to the table instead of the sitting on the table. Scones were served separately with strawberry jam, cream cheese and raspberry jam.
The hero item I think was the Opera-look-alike chocolate semi-sphere. The mousse inside was mixed with crispy grained nuts. That made the texture in mouth nice. And it’s one of the dessert that’s sold individually at the display shelf. So it had to be good. The others were two sweet for us.
What’s not good about this restaurant was my bill was delivered to my table when we hadn’t even finished half of our set. The only feeling I had was we were hurried to go. It’s odd especially there was no one waiting for the table and a lot other tables were available. Plus the staff looked so cold when she did the whole payment process. I hope the service could be improved the next (maybe) I visit.
