I've been to a fair few fine-dining restaurants but this was my first time at Caprice. For the lunch set you can choose between 3 to 5 courses, and I went for 5 just to try more dishes. First came the bread basket with four choices from which each guest could choose. I got the walnut sourdough and cheese roll and absolutely loved the latter! So flaky with just the right amount of moisture, indulgent yet not too oily! Then there was the amuse bouche which was smoked eel & potato foam. Nice but no

Then there was the amuse bouche which was smoked eel & potato foam. Nice but not too much to say about that.

For my first course I had pan fried foie gras with mandarin and candied chestnut. The foie was perfectly cooked but not an ounce over, was super creamy & rich!

For second course I had the artichoke veloute with goats cheese ravioli. If thick veggie soup is your thing you'll like this, and gotta mention the goats cheese ravioli were quite al dente!

For the fish/seafood course I had tiger prawns & mussels with fennel espuma and herbal lobster sauce. Well it certainly was not bad but it was about as good as tiger prawns get, I suppose. Was actually a bit surprised to see tiger prawns as a main on their menu given their class...the other choice was slow cooked turbot so maybe I should have opted for that instead?? idk haha.

Well then for the meat course I got the roasted pigeon & Savoy cabbage stuffed with leg confit and for gras. Again not bad, but I have had better pigeon elsewhere. The one here didn't seem "roasted" though that's what it said on the menu. The skin wasn't crispy. But I did like the stuffed cabbage.

Finally for dessert I had the pear & hazelnut sorbet, almond biscuit. It was overall quite a refreshing one, yet the creamy custard between the almond biscuits provided just the bit of indulgence one always craves in a dessert.

The set also includes a complimentary drink of tea or coffee, and of course petit fours. I'll say that the overall experience was a pleasant one and I did enjoy my lunch, but I'm not sure it met my expectations of a 3-star. Would come back, maybe for dinner.
