CHICKEN AND BEEF SATAYS:
When I visited here in June, I've just eaten some really bad quality satays from 沙嗲軒 SATAY INN in Northpoint outlet... Compared to that 1st Trip - the satays here had slightly more Lemon Grass and Gingery (or Galangal) herbs influence but ultimately, the marination, seasoning and grilling flavour were still bland and there was absolutely no Chargrilled associated Aroma with the satays here. In other words, the Satays while OK were not classifiable as GOOD, it cannot compare to most street stall offers in Singapore or Malaysia, where they attack your senses from multiple angles!

There was no offers of syrupy Pineapples or Pineapple mince here too, and the much hyped-up Home-made Peanuts based Satay Chili Sauce was not 惹味 nor aromatic either, also lacking the 'prawns paste' umami in the equation. NOTE: A revisit to NORTHPOINT 沙嗲軒 later on in July saw a big resurgence in their Food and Satay quality, perhaps improving after getting bagged by so many Openrice members - so don't write off that shop totally. I haven't re-reviewed there yet so take my last review there as passed its use-by-date please!

炒蘿蔔糕:
The Quality of this dish seems to be really low indeed locally in HK, which is surprising considering Fried Turnip Cakes are also a staple food in Cantonese cuisine and we're pretty good with them! The 好時沙嗲 version was definitely the No.1 Version I've so far experienced locally and remains the case even after having this meal 4 months ago!

Its not to mushily floury and came fried with a bit of Wok-Chi - it has a good eggy coating with dark caramelised soya sauce and 'frozen' prawns and sausage bits, plus a hint of Chili. But ultimately - this was way too sweet rather than 爆香了同惹味, in fact it tasted like it was saturated with too much palm sugar! Relatively speaking, this might be good in HK but honestly, its still way below overseas standards - which might sound very mean but unfortunately, its just the truth the way I see it honestly!

SCORE: 3.8 out of 5

HAINANESE CHICKEN RICE SET:
The Soup was ok-good, with lettuce added in to make the chicken stock refreshing but it had MSG in it - that was very obvious as there's little herbal influence nor chicken sweetness.

The CHICKEN whilst very 'smooth', was completely tasteless despite upgrading to a Thigh (FREE and only if available!). It has frozen chicken taste and no real chicken essence, the skin and meat had no herbal taste whatsoever.

The Rice meanwhile was also highly disappointing. Mainly of fried garlic taste, it carried none of herbs taste such as Turmeric or Lemon Grass, and most importantly it had no chicken stock nor chicken oil taste. It was mainly Garlic Oil taste and aroma wise.
SCORE: 3.5 out of 5

IN CONCLUSION - This restaurant is very cheap but very plain, its also not very authentic nor street stall exotic enough in taste. On a personal note and having said that objectively - I don't eat really heavily flavoured food everyday as I like both weak, medium and strong dishes on rotation so as not to overwhelm and numb the palate day-in and day-out, therefore I would come back to eat here if I wanted a lighter version of a Singaporean meal and enjoy it.
