After tasting the real Erica style bbq in the states I have always been on the look out for a similar taste in HK. So today I finally came to Roundhouse for a true BBQ experience. First look into this bar / restaurant you will notice their awesome, and I mean awesome selection of beers. From different locally crafted beer on tap to different bottled beer. First look into this bar / restaurant you will notice their awesome, and I mean awesome selection of beers. From different locally crafted beer on tap to different bottled beer. It will be impossible for you not to be able to find something you like to go with those BBQ meat.

So after we are done with our beer tasting and settled with our choice of beer, the meat has arrived!

Ordered the combo today that comes with two choice of BBQ and two sides. Today I went with the brisket and their pulled pork, completed with Mac N cheese and coleslaw.

Brisket has a great BBQ smoke flavored, perfectly cooked but slightly on the dry side unfortunately. Similarly situation with the pulled pork too. But overall not bad especially you have them with their house hot sauce.

Mac N cheese was very nice and creamy, deep fried pickles and coleslaw did well in cutting through those meat and makes u wanna go back for more!

Great place to down a few pint with some quality bbq on the side with your mates.

If you had market frozen food this was what it tasted like.. Brisket and ribs were pretty poorly seasoned. Overall the meal was not very good tasting and lacking. Pull pork was alright but not worth the price of the meal. Be warned the price is not worth the taste of the meal.

Growing up in Charleston, South Carolina - I was raised on barbecue. The meal I had here yesterday threw me right back to 1989 with the most amazing mustard based barbecue sandwich (you really should sell that sauce!) and Mac'nCheese all while enjoying unlimited lemon iced tea and some great 80's music. It really did feel just like home (except I didn't have to do the dishes afterwards!)

美式小食當然要食Buffalo wings喇﹗呢度供應的係Boneless Chicken Wings ($88),除咗Buffalo,仲可以揀Lemon Pepper、Honey Garlic同Explosive 的口味。Boneless wings食落比較似炸雞塊多過雞翼,而且Buffalo辣醬汁太少,唔係嚿嚿都平均沾到,同埋亦稱唔上辣,下次可以要食Explosive至得﹗

仲有肥仔到爆的Brisket Fries ($68),熱辣辣的溶芝士加上德州烤牛肉粒粒配埋香脆薯條,實在太太太evil喇﹗不過真係好好味

Our weekend grill is never complete without BEER.You won't see any big brands here but you can pick any from the signature 25 craft beer taps.We opted for its BBQ combo: oak wood smoked pulled pork, brisket, sausage that came with white bread, pickles and white bread. We opted for its BBQ combo: oak wood smoked pulled pork, brisket, sausage that came with white bread, pickles and white bread. The smoked meat and ribs were slowly cooked till a point it's falling off the bone and they were rubbed with spices, tender and juicy.

It's way better than my expectation: usually the BBQ meat I had in HK were a bit dry; without much meat broth; required loads of sauce but the Round House Taproom is telling another story.

Friday night, soho充滿happy hour的外國人,人頭湧湧。一街之隔的卑利街比SOHO中心靜,但其實暗藏不少好店。在門口已經見到內裡滿座了。剛好有人埋單,我們才有位~比平常的bar光猛,用了不同的啤酒樽/酒樽貼紙來裝飾。連bar位的啤酒口也用酒樽來標示呢!有趣! Drink menu是用ipad的。但只限眼看,不能落order~先看看餐牌。Combo set幾吸引,但散叫其實也不貴。先來2杯啤酒~Porter味較濃,花樣年華帶點甜。我比較愛喝Porter,味濃一點之餘,入口也滑一點。食物份量比想像多,雞翼還有雞鎚呢! 雞翼皮薄餡靚,外脆內JUICY,正! 微辣的BUFFALO雞翼,加上BLUECHEESE醬,美味可口! 由左至右,味淡至濃。
左一:Bulwark~ cider來的,有點酦酸。
左二:Rubus~ raspberry香味,飲落有果味。

左三:又是porter

右三:Ardennes~ 比porter濃一點,但味道不太討好......
右二:Dogma~ 味再濃一點但滑一點,較易入口!
右一:Imperical IPA~ 口感滑,味道豐富!比Rubus更得我心!

Roundhouse~確實是把酒𣈱飲,風花說月的好地方!

With regards to all my other reviews, there isn't much reason why anyone should listen to me. Sure, I'm handsome and all, but what does that have to do with the food? In this particular instance, however, I have some modicum of expertise for, you see, I am a native Texan. I even wore my "Go Spurs Go!" shirt to the Roundhouse in case anyone doubted this longhorn's authenticity (did you see what I did there? It was an alma-mater reference). We got the combo platter. We got the combo platter. I love brisket foremost among my bbq meats, it being my dad's (er, pappy's) special. We also got the pulled pork. The platter comes with white bread, onions, and pickles (relatively standard), fried half pickles (not as much a Texas thing, but pretty common throughout the US... Hooters serves them, iirc), and two sides.

Let's talk meat. The brisket was disappointing and dry. When my dad cooks it, it melts in your mouth. It's tender, juicy, and has the very lightest bbq sauce you've ever had... a bbq broth if you will. This was just dry meat. You can put enough sauce on it to make it go down, but it's just not that enticing. Brisket is an unforgiving meat, and it dubs thee unforgiven. OK, C-

The pulled pork is in general better. You can eat it without sauce if you desire and it's moist and tender. The issue here is that 88 South, the Carolina BBQ place down the street, has some pretty decent pulled pork themselves. I haven't had both back-to-back close enough to judge the superior, but it wasn't obvious to me that this was better. Good, B.

"Chzy squash" is apparently a thing, though I had never heard of it befoe this. Paula Deen has a recipe, for instance. It was squash, squashed and mashed to the consistency of mashed potatoes, with cheese and crushed doritos on top. Interesting... but only OK, C+.

I liked the potato salad. It's what my parents always called "mustard potato salad" to distinguish it from the bland versions with no-mustard that you find everywhere. I thought maybe the potatoes were overcooked and there were too many eggs, but on the whole I liked it. Good, B+.

BBQ sauce. I personally like to go light. This stuff is nice an not too sweet. I think I preferred the 'hot' sauce, but then I would.

I quite liked the fries. They were excellently crisp, and fluffy inside, and flavorful, and not greasy. They had some additional breading or seasoning (?) outside that gave them an uneven texture. Really top notch, and they came with some quality ranch dressing. You could get chili fries for only $10 more, but not just cheese fries-- go figure. Great, A.

The frito pie was also great. It had a few fresh jalapeno slices on top, which is impressive in HK (though have you noticed that Wah Kee on Graham has intermittently had some fresh ones?). The chips didn't get too soggy (nice) and the chili had a decent tanginess to it. I would totally come here and get this for lunch. (Bar snacks? Frito pie is food!) I think there might have been beans in there (blasphemy in TX), but I'll forgive it. The only real issue was that it wasn't hot enough to melt the cheese. Somewhat less than great, A-.

I haven't had a glass of barley wine in three years. I will say one thing about the Roadhouse - Taproom, is that they take their beer (slash barley wine) seriously. I really wish my friend Kelly were still in HK, he'd've loved this place. Totally my new go-to for drinks.

Overall, I like it. It doesn't get my TX BBQ seal of approval, because brisket. (You see what I did there? It's a word-of-the-year thing.) However, I think the sides and snacks are all great and the beer selection outdoes anything I've encountered in HK. So if we keep on dreaming, maybe someone here will learn how to cook the meat and we'll be gold.

Final score: Good, B.

The beef brisket's moist marbled beef melts on tongue; the ribs (pork and beef) are best eaten by hand and need a little pull with the teeth to separate meat from bone. The pulled pork is beautifully cooked and full of flavour - a nice change to some of the bland pork available elsewhere.

The beef short rib ($400) was delicious, full of smokey flavour yet moist and with good texture

There's free soda with every combo and until the liqor licence arrives you can BYO beer.

Dessert is a choice of pecan or banana cream pie - both nice, but a little sweet

No service charge!

We'll be returning to eat and to sample the craft beers when they arrive!

When we went to Roundhouse this week, it was BYOB as its liquor license won’t come into effect till 2 weeks later (not too crowded for the same reason). Among the three of us we ordered a combo platter and more mains – we tried the pulled pork, the short ribs, the pork ribs and the beef brisket.The meat is all dry-rub and served with a light, red, extremely flavourful barbecue sauce as well as a delightful honey-mustard sauce. The meat is all dry-rub and served with a light, red, extremely flavourful barbecue sauce as well as a delightful honey-mustard sauce. My favourite was the short ribs – both ridiculously moist and tender and tasting great on their own and with the sauces. The brisket and pulled pork are also excellent. I wasn’t a big fan of the pork ribs as I prefer the ones drowning in dark bbq sauce, these felt a bit dry to me. And yes, portions are generous.
The sides are unique and delicious – the pinto beans are smoky, spicy and an excellent complement to the pristine white bread slices served alongside. The soft white bread really reminds me of Southern meals in the US! The squash puree is decadent and sweet (I am not sure but I think there’s cheese in it?). On your platter, you will also find deep-fried pickles, something I’ve never tried before, served with a very peppery horseradish sauce. It’s the perfect grease-cutting compliment to the meal. Oh and don’t forget to try the pecan pie!
Needless to say, I doggy-bagged the leftovers.
I also really liked the friendly staff: the waitresses are very good about refilling glasses and making honest recommendations, the person at the door was welcoming, and the manager Jackie was chatty. The place lacks pretense and is genuinely welcoming – something so rare in Hong Kong these days. Can’t wait to go back soon (especially to try the beers!)
