The newly opened The Roundhouse – Taproom offers US grade beef and pork smoked in-house over oakwood. The smoked meats: beef short rib, pulled pork, beef brisket and pork and beef ribs are made fresh daily and sold by the ¼ and ½ pound. The combo platter ($320) offers a choice of two smoked meats/homemeade sausage, a fried pickle with two side dishes – chzy squash, potato salad or pinto beans. The beef brisket's moist marbled beef melts on tongue; the ribs (pork and beef) are best eaten by hand and need a little pull with the teeth to separate meat from bone. The pulled pork is beautifully cooked and full of flavour - a nice change to some of the bland pork available elsewhere.
The beef short rib ($400) was delicious, full of smokey flavour yet moist and with good texture
There's free soda with every combo and until the liqor licence arrives you can BYO beer.
Dessert is a choice of pecan or banana cream pie - both nice, but a little sweet
No service charge!
We'll be returning to eat and to sample the craft beers when they arrive!
