WAY WAY WAY Over-priced.Just go for the view. but because you cant make reservations ahead of time for drinks, and it gets packed REALLY Easily and very early, if pass 6:30pm, dont bother trying.. u wont get seats:Z

I've been wanting to try out the food at Sevva, since it's been the talk of the town for the last few months. Review in general has been mixed - with most people recommending it more as a place for drinks and not for food. I've been wanting to try out the food at Sevva, since it's been the talk of the town for the last few months. Review in general has been mixed - with most people recommending it more as a place for drinks and not for food. I figured trying the food out at lunch would do less damage on the wallet, so I grabbed a colleague to give it a try.

The view of the place is pretty gorgeous. I had a view of the terrace outside and some of the buildings across the harbor. The aircon, however, was blasting and I pretty much froze for the entire length of the meal.

The menu was relatively simple. I only saw one item that I could remember being a remnant of the Joyce Cafe days, but I wasn't in the mood for rice crackling in soup. I thought about trying out the Taiwanese beef noodle soup that I had heard about, but decided against it. I'd go back to my favorite joint in Taipei for that one...

In the end, what caught my eye was the wagyu beef cheeks and ox tongue pot pie. I am always up for beef cheeks and ox tongue, and putting the two together in a pot pie sounded fantastic. It came in a piping hot bowl, covered with a huge pastry top that just screamed "yummy!"

After piercing the top with my fork, I discovered large cubes of ox tongue, along with chunks of beef cheek and smaller cubes of carrots and potatos in a tomato-based gravy. The ox tongue was really, really tender, just the way I like it. The wagyu was juicy (more like fatty) and also very tender. The whole thing was just very satisfying, and I thought that the quality of the dish was very high.

Despite being reasonably full from the heavy dish, I decided to have affogato for dessert. Unfortunately, after pouring everything on top of the delicious vanilla ice cream (you can see the black vanilla powder), I had to step out on the terrace for a conference call. When I am done with the call more than 10 minutes later, half the ice cream has melted... But nevertheless I found it very delish.

I must admit that I thought more than half the items on the dessert menu looked delicious. I think next time, I will just come and order 3 or 4 desserts.

BTW my colleague thought her pappardelle with chorizo was good, and ditto for the lemon meringue. Must try next time.

When we finally managed to get the attention of one bar tender, I have ordered the drinks for three times, his replied in a very rude way "yessss! plssssss wait, ho ng ho !" in Cantonese. We ordered one beer and two glasses of red wine. The cost is nearly 500. I just found their service quality at this price level is not acceptable. I am sure the bar tender can handle this situation in their busy time in a much better manner.

After we have got our drinks, we went into the balcony area. I agree with my friend that it has the most fantastic view for bars in HK. I guess this is also why they are so expensive. However this fantastic view cannot help to erase our bad experience in the bar.

After trying the excellent high tea a week ago, we decided to book the "Bank-side" for dinner tonight (Tuesday, 15-07-08).We totally enjoyed our drinks before dinner on the unique patio with stunning view and a vibrant crowd and relaxed ambience.The Bank-side restaurant is simple and comfortably furnished and decorated with well chosen background music. We totally enjoyed our drinks before dinner on the unique patio with stunning view and a vibrant crowd and relaxed ambience.
The Bank-side restaurant is simple and comfortably furnished and decorated with well chosen background music. Staffs are friendly and attentive. The relatively small food menu is filled up by cuisines from French to Oriental, which in fact, offers quite a few choices from either. We brought our own bottle of Chateau Latour 1988, so we chose the lamb loin as the main course. The tasting starter, Jetset Dosa, was very good; so were the Sevva Salad (half portion) and the lovely 'Macaroni baked in three cheese with black truffle' (half portion) as second course. To our disappointment, the lamb loin was rather unimpressive and tasteless. Dessert is always good if you still have room to try the original crunch cake!
A large bottle of still mineral water costs only Hk$70; but corkage costs HK$500, unexpectedly 10% service charge added [which actually made up to HK$550!!]. I don't recall other restaurants adding service charge to corkage . . . oh well!

After reading a lot of negative reviews of SEVVA, it was with much trepidation that I took some out-of-town friends there for a drink and dinner. And what a pleasant surprise it turned out to be! Being a clear night, the view from the terrace was simply spectacular and beats anywhere in Hong Kong including up on the Peak where the view of the harbour is sometimes shrouded in mist. When we moved into the restaurant for dinner, we found the decor much to our liking -chic, elegant and comfortable. Big pluses in terms of ambience are that the lighting is not so dark you can't read the menu or your bill, and that the background music is not so loud that you can't hear yourself speak, let alone talk to your friends. Which is unlike most "hip" restaurants in Hong Kong.

The menu is not cheap, but it does offer a good variety of wholesome, homecooking type of dishes from different continents that are reminiscent of the good old days of Joyce Cafe. Upon enquiry, we found out that most of the ingredients are as organic as possible and that probably explain the prices. All of us were happy with the quality and portions of our dishes.

As for the service, we found it adequate and efficient. For a new restaurant, a space of this size and the hundreds of customers that it caters to every night, we think the restaurant is trying its best. Hopefully, it will continue to improve once the teething problems are over.

Our overall rating for SEVVA is thumbs up. It's not just a local restaurant catering to local tastes and whims, but a very cosmopolitan one comparable to its peers in London and New York. It will be featured in tourist guide books and put Hong Kong on the culinary map when it's come of age.

Oh , for Christ's sakes.......so much news on this hot joint. My friends and I went there to check it out after hearing great things and not so great things about it.We eat out constantly and have not experienced what one would describe "good service" anywhere. On our night at Sevva, we found great cocktails, great service and we shared the best steak (although pricey) but totally worth it. It's called Kagoshima and quality is known to be better than Japnese Kobe..Guess those guys are used to

I went there last week friday 30th of May, I have a quick drinks before our meal. I stand outside the terrace and order few drinks including some of the special cocktails they create like Damn the Weather, Crash Reviver..... It tooks around 15 minutes to give me the drinks. And I look around the whole place, it was more than 300 peoples standing here for drinks which is quite efficient for me to deliver the drinks on the mass volume of drinks the bartender has to create. I look at all the staff who has been running all over the place which trying to please all the guests to achieve the service, given the place was too big (huge) and lot of guests asking for drinks.

The staff has been doing their best and trying to provide the service which in deed everyone think that they are the one who owns this restaurant and has to be served first. Fairly enough to say that this restaurant is doing a great job and I would like to give them thumbs up and "Excellent" to describe.

We went to Sevva last month for drinks. We were showed into a seating area with 4 small round tables and horrifically uncomfortable backless chairs. There were 9 of us but we could barely hear each other due to the distance from one end to the other. When we ordered snacks, they only gave out 4 sets of plates and forks. We asked two different waitresses to get us more plates and forks and neither of them did. When we went to order some cakes (which were like $150+ a slice), we asked the waitress

When we got to the forth cake, she changed her mind and said she’ll get a pad and pen but then she disappeared completely!! Later we went to place some advance orders coz the colleague who was paying was leaving early. We specifically requested the drinks to be brought out when we asked them to but as usual, they did not pay attention and brought them all out at once. There were like 10 beers and 8 cocktails when only 6 of us stayed behind!!

Anyway, the bill ended up being over HK$8000 and we’re not even sure we got all our drinks (we kept ordering them but only very few actually showed up). We can’t believe how bad service is at such a trendy new up market restaurant. The managers should retrain all their staff while hiring more to make sure each table in the entire place gets covered.

Sorry, the only thing I want to say is "POOR SERVICE" I know we look like that we can't spend much money there, I know we are trying to share the bills and act cheap, but, I don't think we deserve such a bad attitude. The only thing I like is the view, which is totally have nothing to do with this restaurant. (well, maybe related to its location though. )

I went there last Thur, 15 May with friends and colleagues. Initially, I expect to got surprises there, however, the only thing I now remembering is their poor quality service !!We arrived there around 6.45pm, and even though it was Thursday, it is still very full of people around the outdoor area. We arrived there around 6.45pm, and even though it was Thursday, it is still very full of people around the outdoor area. It was difficult to find a small corner to stand (facing the Mandarin Oriental HK)......the view is very fantastic and relax. We found, it's very hard to catch a waiter to make the order, waiters are running very quickly without seeing us waving to them !! After we ordered a bottle of wine, the waiter came back and forth for 4-5 times to finish our order........but still, after asking many many times, we did not have snacks and didn't have enough glasses to share the wine. We all very disappointed and decided to move to somewhere else !

We all think that, Sevva should set-up bar facilities out at the uncovered area, then watiers don't have to take so long to bring the drinks to guests. They should also need to well train their staff/waiter(s). There are a lot of area for Sevva to improve !!

For the reservations at the outdoor area, we suggest Sevva accept booking in advance, unless it is all reserved. And Sevva has to made the sofa & table smaller.......that would be more easy to chat and could be able to set-up more tables out there.

Will try again 2-mths later, to see anything improved.

我係同三個朋友去Sevva食lunch,見雜誌介紹好多次,所以特登去試,訂位都要一星期前。好明顯餐廳走高檔路線。Modern classic,簡單interior design用好多art 來裝飾,大膽咁用左好lady的粉紫色,幾得意感覺唔錯。Outdoor dinning area最靚係個city view,天氣好在外面用餐飲野都會好正。我們點了Entrie & maincourse。salad, soup, pasta,cludsandwish同fish,樣樣都幾好食。Portion都幾大,食了salad 同maincourse 會好飽,coffee都ok。總括黎講,餐廳環境好靚,waiter 有點生手,service係要train多點,其他都好好,係度食飯覺得好高貴,自己好似變左闊太咁,哈哈!埋單二千幾,計落每位lunch約$600多左右。哈哈!間唔中豪一次咁多啦。

been there twice for lunch and both times the pastas were yummy but too salty. this time we also tried the dosa w/mixed mushrooms, and it was as if the chef had knocked over the salt cellar! the food took a long time to arrive - we were only a party of 3 but the main dishes came about 15 mins apart, i.e. the first person had already finished her food when the 2nd main dish arrived, and we didn't get the 3rd main dish until 45 mins after we'd sat down! the waitress was very apologetic about th

Lunch Menu 上有很多選擇, 中式, 台式, 印式, 西式, 連日式便檔都有. 一大班人去到, 可以照顧唔同人口味. 但係來這種餐廳, 小弟寧願可以專攻起道歐洲菜色, 更為不浪費餐廳環境.是日點了一客"Double Decker King Prawn Toast". 隻蝦大的如小龍蝦一般大小, 好有蝦味同爽口. 炸皮厚度適中. 他他汁同隻蝦好Match~$500一位, 味道OK. 扺唔扺? 見仁見智;)
