I have been wanting to hit this German pub for quite some time. So when the 2 friends who are leaving for the UK asked for a place to hang out with, Schnurrbart popped out in my mind.Having read the reviews, I held quite high expectation and this restaurant has definitely lived up to it! I knew it wont disappoint me when the female waitress bid us a warm welcome “Hello 3 beautiful girls” “ Aw you made my day” lolLocated at Prat Avenue, the place is not really that hard to find (though it took me

Located at Prat Avenue, the place is not really that hard to find (though it took me some time as I’m by no means familiar with TST). Next to it is a XX sauna. Apart from a bar table, they put in place several larger tables suitable for 4-8 people. If you go in a crowd, better reserve a table in advance. But for tonight the place is just right – neither too packed nor empty.
The 2 main dishes
Pork Knuckle – very crispy skin with tender meat. You know what I have a thing for pork knuckle, be it cooked in the German or Chinese way. (most probably because of the collagen, a must-have if you want good skin and young look haha.) The boss (I assume) warmly introduced the 2 mustards they have for the meat. The light yellow one is sweet while the other is spicy. I followed his advise to mix the two and it tastes perfect with the meat. Another highlight is the mashed potato served with pork knuckle. Added with butter, the mashed potato was very smooth and tasty.
They taste like a fried mixture of smashed potatoes and salmon. And the portion is generous – there were 3 large ones served with lettuce and pickled red cabbage slices. Not that the pickles are not good, but the 3 of us aren’t really that into pickles so we leave them intact.
We had Irish Coffee, Amaretto and white wine. The first one is quite strong. I chose it cuz my friend has recommended it while I was in the UK but I don’t have a chance to try it out there! Its served hot with cream on top. For the 2nd, don’t bother if you hate the taste of almond. Quite sweet as syrup is added I guess. As for white wine – im not an expert but yea its normal.
Its unbelievably reasonable for food and service of this standard – only 160 each. The alcohol was only 3X as we ordered just in time for the Happy Hour discount. The whole meal would have cost you double in Soho.
That should be it. I would conclude the whole dining experience as very pleasant, nearly flawless ☺. Best from me to the two girls. Have more fun in parties and sadly, classes in the UK. How I wish I could get out of here!
