Pizza has long been transformed into those cheesy, assorted-meat-loaded, high calories american-like fare over decades, losing the shine of its italian origin.
Thanks to Pizza Express for bringing the genuine italian pizza back to town, having its latest store opened on Ashley Rd., it offers a better access to the in-land patrons.
Being served nicely by the friendly attendents, the dinner kicked off with the 'Quattro Formaggi on Garlic bread'($40), presenting us a blend of mozzarella, pecorino, parmesan and fontal, four fine Italian cheeses specially chosen for their rich and piquant flavours baked on a garlic dough, is the favourite of the night, having four distinct yet palette of cheese melting in your mouth is just inexplicable.
It's then followed by the sighature 'Spinach and Parmesan Fiorentina' ($101), came as a surprise with lots n lots of spinach wrapped inside, I can't get enought of it together with the baked tomato puree aside, a very nice dish but yet a bit heavy.
Surely we cannot miss the thin-crust pizza here, we got 'Parmense'($116), with the fine flavours of asparagus, Parma ham and parmesan, one just can't resist the salty aroma of the parma ham if you're a lover of it.
The dinner was finely wrapped up by a recommended 'Chocolate Fudge Cake' ($48), served warm with a scoop of ice-cream aside, the cake was extremely spongy, it tasted like dark chocolate without a sense of fullness, bravo!
We will definitely be back for more, esp the Margherita. =)
