1st time to this restaurant. Environment is quit espacious with mainly set up of 2ppl/4ppl tables. However, it's get very noisy when the restaurants is fully occupied. Set lunch has two menu - Just A lucnh (138) & Just Another Lunch (98) depending on the main course selection (more than 10). I chose Just a Lunch including: - Self-serve salad bar: got 5-6 selection mainly vegetables (the watermelon doesn't look fresh so just give a pass). Suggest to get as early as you could, otherwise, the salad

1st time to this restaurant. Environment is quit espacious with mainly set up of 2ppl/4ppl tables. However, it's get very noisy when the restaurants is fully occupied.

Set lunch has two menu - Just A lucnh (138) & Just Another Lunch (98) depending on the main course selection (more than 10). I chose Just a Lunch including:
- Self-serve salad bar: got 5-6 selection mainly vegetables (the watermelon doesn't look fresh so just give a pass). Suggest to get as early as you could, otherwise, the salad bar might be a bit messy.
- Maincourse: lobester Club - I paid $30 Addition for this course and expect sth more than just lobester sandwich served with fried potatoes. Bad choice.
- Dessert: creme brulee. quality is OK esp for set lunch
- coffee: ordinary.

Overall, worth the money for $98 lunch set.

餐前麵包以麻布袋盛載,拿起時發現原來布袋底部放了熱石,難怪閒置半晚的麵包仍能帶點微溫,而且入口軟熟不韌,伴隨著一絲香草味道,算是不錯。

頭盤 Warm Buffalo Mozzarella wrapped with Lardo,質感煙韌的水牛芝士已討人歡喜,伴菜則是一甜一甘的組合 - 車厘茄及芝麻菜。薄豬油是整道菜的重點,不但沒有油膩感,更令味道變得豐富,好吃!

餐湯 Fresh Pea "Cappuccino" with mint foam 並沒有想像的 "Cappuccino" 賣相,猶幸豌豆磨得幼滑兼散發陣陣豆香,薄荷味則是輕輕的,但也在口腔持續了一段時間。

主菜三揀一,我選擇了 Chargrilled Lamb Sirloin with cauliflower mash,平時比較少吃羊西冷這個部位,;被分成五小件上檯,邊位烤得脆,中心則呈粉嫩色,細嚼之下,還帶有很重的羊羶味,愛羶的我一吃便愛上了,至於作伴的椰菜花蓉也不錯,起碼做到質地細滑的要求,其實我本身不好西蘭花/椰菜花,但若不以原本形態出現的話,又好像沒那麼抗拒。

甜品 Signature Banoffi Pie,是在脆餅底上加入焦糖香蕉,再舖上由煉奶做成的拖肥及厚厚的忌廉,這些全是我喜歡的元素,但份量實在太大了,吃到尾段的確有少少飽滯感覺,

間餐廳裝修幾靚隔住塊玻璃望入去廚房,感覺都幾乾淨坐低左仲睇緊menu ge時候個waitress已經上緊包d餐包用一個細細個布袋裝住聽同事講入面有舊暖石warm住d包好有趣ge idea自助沙律吧d菜真係不敢恭維好大陣草青味,其他乜味都食唔到落左好多橄欖油同pepper都冇幫助我地講笑話夠新鮮,新鮮到好似o岩o岩摘落黎咁…==不過我食左半碗已經有少少反胃…main course 叫左幾樣野叫左兩塊類似pizza ge野一個pasta我叫左個crab and herb pie望落好似好細件,但係其實好濟Dessert係chocolate brownie好好食! 不過同樣係好heavy!賣單每人around $100我諗如果頭盤要湯而唔係salad buffet會抵食好多

七月八日 (星期五)舊同事"主席"得了新工作來個小小的送別午聚也愛吃的主席未曾試過JAR就在她離開中環之前帶她來一次前一日訂了位相比上一次,食客明顯的多了我倆點了SEABASS和LAMB LOIN的LUNCH SET前菜可以選擇SALAD BAR/ SOUPSALAD BAR提供的選擇不多,只有哈蜜瓜,荷蘭豆和雜菜哈蜜瓜很清甜,很醒胃荷蘭豆也很新鮮,吃多一點不打緊,反正主菜份量都不會太多是日餐湯是南瓜湯水準一般,味太淡了而且湯很稀,沒有口感SEABASS一如所料,份量很少,但很精緻魚肉鮮味無比而且還散發出魚油的甘香令人陶醉其中,可惜時間(即份量)實在太短LAMB LOIN:LAMB肉質一般,羊做到沒有羶味不知是好是壞愛吃羊的朋友可能會有點失望拌碟的粟米薯蓉倒頗特別,值得一試主席,祝新工作愉悅!

有日同事話呢間新開既restaurant得, 今日就一行4人來到呢度試菜~!因為有訂位所以唔需要等~坐低發現環境不錯~ 裝修十分雅致. 而每張檯既距離唔會太近, 部分檯更有疏化位~午餐既choice都算係咁, 有$98 or $128 既set lunch, 而每個價錢有4-5款可以揀. 今日我揀左lamb chop ($128)先來既係湯, 呢度既salad係以salad bar 形式, 大家可以隨意o係salad bar 拿自己所需既份量.值得一提既係呢度既麵包. 羊扒同我想像中唔一樣, 呢個羊被切到條狀. 有好多香草o係面, 配以粟米薯蓉, 賣相還不俗~!
食落味道亦唔差, 羊條好香, 而且都算"淋", 粟米薯蓉感覺清新. 冇一般薯蓉個種好快就飽既感覺~!

五月五日 (星期四)不經不過,又來到我們的第二千一百餐老公仔一早已選定了JAR來紀念我未去過,老公仔反而去過兩次分別吃了意大利飯和燴牛尾,兩者俱佳JAR – Just A Restaurant主打兩類價錢不同的午市套餐Just A lunch ($128) l Just Another Lunch ($98)一分錢當然是一分貨一場來到,當然吃點好的老公仔encore上次吃過的OSSO BUCCO(即燴牛尾)同時推介我吃ANGUS BURGER先來的是名副其實的一袋麵包在這袋麵包裡放置了暖蛋,使麵包無論何時吃也保持温熱鬆軟其細心程度值得一讚老公仔說第一回來吃時的西蘭花和青蘋果都非常鮮味可惜是日兩者都欠奉,我們選了Soup of the Day, 是洋蒽煙肉碎湯味濃而料足,果然無選錯未幾,主菜送到先說燴牛尾,份量十足,配有大量的薯蓉牛尾相當入味,而且骨少肉多,選料可見一斑薯蓉口感較特別,味較啖而口感略欠我的安格斯漢堡份量十足牛肉漢堡厚厚的,肉質鬆軟度剛好,很有咬口而且極富濃厚的牛肉味,吃得出的新鮮!配上洋蒽,蕃茄,很惹味不過整個包實在太厚,我要分層食呢回味之際,甜品也緩緩送上沒有太大驁喜,

相影得不太好,沒有影到布袋的特別之處:內有熱石。

由於布袋底部置有熱石的緣故,面包拿上手是熱熱的,入口是暖暖的,而且相當鬆軟,這個處理方式實在有心思,不得不讚。更重要的是,面包上的香草並不是僅僅作為點綴,而是透過芬芳的香草味,把面包帶到另一個層次:香軟俱備。這個香軟的面包,令我留下深深的印象。

主菜方面,好友點了煎魚,而我和三位同事則點了羊架,另外還有一位同事,我忘記她點了甚麼......

先談談那塊煎魚。魚,我只吃了一口,評價亦只有五個字:色香味俱全。

色,我就不花文字形容形,各位看看相片便可以了。

香,我主要是指魚皮,那塊薄薄的魚皮散發著香味,告訴我它的火候是如何恰到好處,沒有煎不透的腥,也沒有過了火位的燶味,有的僅是煎魚誘人的香氣。若然單憑香味不敢寫包單說它是火候適中的話,那麼才把它放進口後,應該無話可說。那片魚片是那麼的香脆乾身,教人不再有任何質疑。

味,是指魚肉的鮮甜。簡單來說,魚肉入口相當鮮甜,肉質嫩滑,香草成功把雪藏的味道趕走,整個的配合恰到好處。

那麼,羊架又如何呢?五成熟的羊架,在刀切下去後,可以見到淡淡的粉紅色;羊架將香草芥茉醬烹調,羊肉一進口,就是滿滿的芳香,肉質方面亦相當不賴。可惜的是,或許因為同時間烹調四碟的關係,熱度稍嫌不足。雖有說廚師燒菜應把菜煮得即使掉還是可口,但作為食客,還是希望吃到熱熱的餸菜。

壓軸的是甜品,朱古力蛋糕。這件蛋糕,簡直不得了,朱古力味非常香濃,吃得出不是隨隨便便用下價的朱古力製作。口感方面,其實似是吃朱古力磚而不是蛋糕,但卻出奇地沒有使人過份飽滯的感覺,為這份午餐帶來完美的結束。

順帶一提,由於其中一位同事須要先行回公司的關係,只好為她“打包”那任朱古力蛋。當眾人回到公司以後,發現侍蛋糕猶如被安放在碟上一樣,實是又一驚喜。

或者,很多人覺得吃一頓午飯花上過百元是頗為昂貴,但若然食物質數及性價比高,而又不是每天這樣吃的話,還是相當值得。百多元的價錢,考慮到質素,又比比區內其他食肆,JAR的午餐其實是相當超值,值得推介!

We did not want to repeat the dishes we ordered last time so we tried something different, apart from the French Onion Soup which my dad really liked. We ordered two orders to share among us three and the portion was big enough to leave us all satisfied. Half-melted cheeses on top of the softened slice of bread which was half-floating and half-sinking after absorbing the soup was delicious; the cheese being sweet and yummy and the bread being full of the aroma of the soup. The soup by itself was really sweet, despite carrying a heavy smell of the ox (i suppose this to be somehow a ox broth as the base, yes?) cause of the generous dozes of shedded caramelized and softened onion in it. It was nice, even for a non-onion-soup-drinker like me. No wonder why my dad (who loves onion soup) appreciated it s much!

Next was the baby spinach and sweet corn with poached egg. The egg was nicely cooked and the yolk was instantly running out as we broke the white with a fork. The dressing was a little too oily - or was it because of the yolk incorporated into the greens? - and it made the spinach leaves a little too soggy. Yet the corn cobs and bacon bits were tasty and added another dimension of texture into the salad, making it less dull to eat as they were crunchy, contrasted against the softness of the leaves.

We also ordered a Cheese Platter. JAR has just introduced a new, separated, more comprehensive menu on the cheeses and quite a few new types were added. We did not have much knowledge on the dairy goodie and were instantly confused with all those foreign names on the paper. The waitress wasnt too sure about what to recommend when i requested for something 'similar to brie' - the best i could do - but luckily she had a cheatsheet and we kinda overcame the hurdle of an incomprehensible cheese menu (due to my lack of knowledge, my bad) and managed to order 3 types of cheeses. The platter came in a huge portion - the condiments were generously given and they altogether covered more surface area than the cheeses themselves!
Anyway, i could not recall what the precise names of the cheeses were. I think one (the one looking like the brie) was Coulommiers and the waitress had to reassure that it would not be the strong, sea-salty cheese that was unstandable for me during my last visit, and that they had changed the cheese collection. It turned out to be true: the cheese was indeed a much more mild one, and yet i do not quite like the last tint of sourness and saltness. The cheese lacked a creamy and full body too, and melted too quickly once it entered your mouth. Brie could surely do a better job than this.
Roquefort should be the name of the blue cheese which my dad ordered. The smell was not strong and the flavour was, too, mild, although it was more salty than the Coulommiers. It was of a likable texture and moist however, yet being a little too crumbled - i basically ate it with the thin crackers which could hold the bits together, and cleaned away the strong taste in my mouth with a walnut or a dried apricot.
Last was the Comte, the semi-hard cheese. Despite its hardness the flavour was intense and the texture made it a nice on-the-cracker snack to be eaten. This was my personal favourite among the three cheeses for i love rich ones.
The compliments were generous as there were thin water crackers, wheat digestives, mini baguettes, quince paste, nuts etc. They made great appetizers as well as desserts, as we could only finish it after we ere done with our mains - the portion was just too much for three to finish, and with that at $150 for three cheeses, this had been a true bargain.

Then came the mains - and sadly most turn out to be disappointing.

1. Long bone beef short rib - oven-roasted with arugula salad. We requested to have it medium-rare and it turned out to be slightly burnt along the edges. It was fine for me for i love chewing on the tougher loins but my parents who have weaker teeth might find it not very comfortable to eat. The portion was huge - good for 3-4 persons to each get a decent share. Personally i think the taste of the meat was ok, the flavour was quite intense, but the aroma of the char-grill was a bit shallow and stayed only on the surface of the roast but did not really get into the flesh, which might turn out to taste a little bland. The texture was too a little rough. All it all it was okay but overpriced - you wont think its worth $320.

2. Leg of lamb - slow-roasted with herb stuffing. The biggest disappointment of the night. I was expecting a whole leg of lamb, huge, juicy and succulent. IT turned out to be somewhaat a roll of meat with herb stuffings. It smelt intensely of lamb but it was tasteless. A thick slab of mint sauce wouldnt help it either. Texture wasnt particularly great too - sigh. The lamb rack we had last time was much better than this one. Big mistake of the night.

3. Pappardelle with wild mushrooms - truffles and cream . Best main dish of the night. The pappardelle was cooked till al dante and, despite the lack of the flavour of the egg in it, the wide and flat pasta could carry the thick truffle mushroom sauce, which was rich and very tasty. Very nice indeed, and we realized that JAR might be better at handling mushrooms and veggies than big chunks of meat.

All in all - avoid the exceptionally fleshy dishes and go for the greens and cheese - you wont be disappointed at JAR.

鹽腌牛脷(SALT-CURED OX TONGUE)切得厚,有咬口,味道濃郁,不錯不錯.
煙燻鰻魚(SMOKED EEL)白雪雪的,質感是鰻魚一貫的滑,有少許骨,味道出奇地清新.
Coulommiers: 特意詢問侍應有否和brie cheese差不多的芝士,她推介這一種:但在soft cheese的表面下,卻是味道像南乳般咸的cheese,咸香得攻鼻,令人受不了.
只怪我對芝士認識不深,否則會叫另一種更合口味的.

又一侍應推介:FLATBREAD WITH CARAMELIZED FIGS, ARUGULA & CHEVRE.賣相真的像pizza,但吃下許就會覺得這個的質地比pizza底軟稔和煙膩得多,味道帶少許麥味,而非pizza的麵粉和牛油味,感覺健康些.
上面有煮得甜甜的無花果compote和wedge,焦糖化的過程去掉了無花果本身的酸味,令之變得香甜;
少許的羊奶芝士帶淡淡奶酥和咸香,但略嫌太少和太碎,味道不明顯也不突出.

覆蓋在上面的火箭菜,沒有平時吃的草澀味,脆脆的質感卻為下面偏軟稔的食材添上另一種層次,感覺豐富.
份量也不少,五六人分吃無難度,三四人(如我們)就會覺得有點太多.

先來烤羊架配豆和醃涼菜(RACK OF LAMB:ROASTED, WITH CRUSHED PEAS & CUCUMBER-MINT RELISH).要了medium-rare的,也的是帶粉紅的半熟,對版;切下去也覺得軟稔,羊味濃郁,酥得來很香,也充滿肉汁;表面上塗有少許mustard和麵包糠,帶脆的也惹味.
配菜也好吃,青豆用香草炒過,咸香;relish味道清新,吃完濃郁的羊架口拿來清清口腔最好.

然後是百里香烤半邊雞配粟米(FARM CHICKEN (HALF):THYME ROASTED, WITH ROOT VEGETABLES & CORN COB).一直對西餐廳的烤雞沒太大興趣和期望-雞髀肉像雞胸肉般又無味又實,真的胸肉硬得可以拿來打死人,也不要說有任何味道了.

但這兒的烤雞卻令人眼前一亮:肉質是難得的軟稔,還有肉汁,味道也摻入了濃郁的香草味,可能對一些人來說偏咸了少許,但個人覺得還可接受.能夠在一間西餐廳吃到有水準的烤雞(價錢也不貴),真好.

配上的焗洋蔥和西芹也吸收了雞汁和香草味,脆脆甜甜的好吃極了,不知怎的很有農村bbq的感覺

不能不提的還有一整條連外皮的牛油烤粟米,比雞身更長,賣相頗震撼;但要吃卻有點麻煩,如果不想用手拿著整條咬噬,就要用毛巾包著再將之啪斷再來吃,過程同樣麻煩.雖然味道真的很好,但如果有辦法有儀態地吃會更好!


吃完兩道令人滿意的主菜,胃好像還有點空位,侍應適時地遞上甜品menu,看來不錯的.好,就來另外兩客dessert分享吃吧!

暖心朱古力香橙蛋糕配甜酒雪糕(DARK CHOCOLATE & BITTER ORANGE DOME:WARM, WITH GRAND MARNIER GELATO):賣相精緻,半圓的朱古力蛋糕一督下去,裡面流質的熱朱古力醬立即湧出,散發濃濃的可可香味.蛋糕表面帶脆,上面少許煮過的香橙絲煙膩帶濃甜味,與偏苦的朱古力成一平衡;中間的pudding帶濕潤,最裡面的朱古力醬當然是流質的.
小小的一個半圓卻有多重口感,加上帶微微酒味的grand mariner意大利雪糕,一熱一凍,很難不令人心醉. 這個甜品,滿分.

麵包布甸配vanilla雪糕(NOT-JUST-A-BREAD & BUTTER PUDDING WITH VANILLA BEAN GELATO): 本來是配海鹽味雪糕的,但我是傳統的人,麵包布甸是要配vanilla雪糕吃才對的嘛
所以在落單時特別要求要轉味道.
因為之前自己煮過麵包布甸的關係,所以對它曾做了少許research:這種甜品的做法可大致分兩種,一種是以麵包為主材料,做法為將麵包浸在蛋和奶的混合物內過夜,直到完全吸收再拿去焗,結果會是軟中帶小許麵包質感的布甸;也有的以蛋為主要材料在另在表面以麵包覆蓋,成品會像燉蛋般比較滑.
個人比較喜好前者,貪其味道比較濃郁;但這裡做的偏向後者,麵包不是平放,而是向上棟直在布甸面再焗至香脆,賣相也真的not just a bread pudding般普通.各施各法,但味道都是好的,底下的布甸很香很滑,蛋味濃郁;麵包焗得像多士般香脆,與滑滑的布甸成一強烈對比.
vanilla雪糕不大球,蛋香草味道超濃和自然,味道也因為是意大利雪糕的關係比HD的美式濃奶味版本,奶味來得淡但味道較清新,和重重濕濕的布甸吃就最好了.

吃完甜品,大家都是一百分地滿足了.結帳是大概九百元,以中環來說不算太貴,環境和食物味道也more than just an okay! 但有一點真的要留意的是食物的溫度:主菜都帶點溫溫吞吞的lukewarm,雖未致於冷得不可接受,但食物如果能夠熱一點,感覺始終會再好一點的.


總言之:值得再來,下次想嘗試真的很吸引的semi-buffet lunch sets, 只是$78-148,也不貴.

首先,我並不知道擺花街有此食廈,好像發現新大陸般,急不及待與同事們試一下。入內裝修感覺有點像Agnes b cafe,中央位置有一個Salad bar,而我們7人佔靠窗的長檯位置。那位帶北歐口音的金髮美女侍應的服務頗殷勤。Menu很簡單,全是午市套餐,但選擇也頗多元化,值得一讚。侍應很快就端上麵包,熱騰騰、軟綿綿的,很可口。我選了mushroom soup做starter,其他同事們則全選salar bar。我個人喜歡很creamy很濃的mushroom soup,它這個有點稀。同事們說salar bar的菜很新鮮,而且全是貴價貨,很不錯。Main course是Lobster sandwich,材料非常新鮮,但好像太多麵包了,多點龍蝦肉會更好。甜品是apricot ice cream,但texture 游走在sorbet及ice cream之間,相信是自家製的,但味道不太出眾。我感到這間餐廳的誠意,那天的午餐也吃得很愉快。我猶疑了很久,究竟給哈哈笑總評或是OK。可是,食物的味道還有進步的空間,還是給OK總評了。我會再來試的,希望下次有哈哈笑水準。

This time dined on the other side of the restaurant. There are things to like about either side. Had a cozy 2-seater this time. They wanted to give us a round table but I preferred the small rectangular one. Facilitates conversation and anyway the round table could seat more guests. Unfurnished, low ceiling, small salad bar in the middle of the room to ease things out a bit, bright enough, nice tablecloth and cutlery, good.

Service:
I like the no-nonsense approach. No nonsense at all, and the waitresses kind of have their own carefree style. Not careless though. They are quite attentive. When I spooned a mouthful of M's soup using M's utensils, the waitress spotted it and gave me a spoon. She probably thought I lacked table manners.

As good as 'soft on the inside and crisp on the outside' hot rolls get! They came in that same heat-proof bag, with a bit of room temperature butter, which I appreciated. Not too difficult to spread. I really like carbs. Especially when they come in the form of pastry. And basically anything I can find in a bakery.

M ordered this, as mentioned above. I could really taste the potato coming through. Normal potatoes. But I couldn't taste bacon. When I fished out a bit of bacon and chewed on it, it was rather bland, and boring. I don't think they fried the bacon before incorporating it into the soup. They probably cooked the bacon together with the spuds in the liquid...regrettably not too successful. Next time could give bacon rashes a good fry before putting it into the soup. The dollop of creme fraiche helped to thicken the soup. Not strictly necessary, but not bad either.

My favorite bit of the meal. They put in something new to replace the quinoa! Salad bar includes:
Garlic broccoli, balsamic watermelon, mixed veg, Greek risoni, cucumber with poppy seed (couldn't really taste the poppy seed though), purple yam - extremely sweet I took a bit of everything. I spotted my favorite watermelon with balsamic and heaped a spoonful onto my bowl. They were deliciously sweet, juicy, and refreshing. Would've been perfect if they were a tad cooler. OH well. Good enough for me. Everything else was good - i like greens - Broccoli was fresh and paired with garlic, my favorite, that I had lots of, mm - the only trouble being - lack of variety perhaps. Could also throw in a bit of meat. Or something that's warmer. Would fancy that. I also liked the strong red onion in the Greek risoni, together with sweet capsicum, and feta cheese (which I didn't particularly fancy, but am sure most would). Salad already filled me up half way. Good thing I ordered the chicken and avocado sub, not too filling there.

It looked tasty. The portions were very generous and the bed of mashed mash was overwhelming. The oxtail itself was not cooked long enough, or they didn't put in enough seasoning. It was tender, but it wasn't tasty enough. If cooked longer, I think the meat would be more fragrant. And the juice wasn't sticky enough. I prefer oxtail with sticky juices. The accompanying veg wasn't soft enough and tasted as if they weren't really cooked with the oxtail. The cauliflower mash was quite interesting as it wasn't fluffy or smooth like mashed potatoes but granular and rough. A nice interpretation of mash? Nothing special apart from the texture. It's nice if you eat it with a bit of oxtail though. And it feels healthier coz you're not eating as much carbs while attaining the same filling effect.

Smoked thinly-pulled chicken: flavorful and tender. Avocado was buttery. Thousand island dressing a no-no for me. Small portions though, but enough for me considering the huge salad I'd had for starter. The baguette was accompanied by a jar of pickled veg and baked potato wedges. The wedges, as mentioned in my previous post, are healthy and authentic. Not the deep-fried stuff with lots of flavoring, but a simple, baked wedge with thin, crisp skin, lightly salted, peelable.

How should I put it? I wasn't sure whether this is meant to be a gelato or an ice-cream. The flavour was really nice though - the pleasant taste of rum both inside the gelato and the raisins. Juicy raisins. Probably homemade. If it were meant to be an ice cream it would be too icy. But whatever it was meant to be - I wouldn't recommend it.

Sadly I wouldn't recommend this either. M and I were delighted by the sound of it - but were bitterly disappointed when it turned out to be something of less-than-average quality. The cake itself had a dry, crumbly body, didn't taste particularly strongly of anything at all, and the texture was just wrong - chiffon cake is supposed to be light, spongy, with some bounce if you press it down with the side of a fork, not 'dry' in the mouth..this one felt like pound cake instead. Not what I expected, or wanted.

Conclusion:
Much less of a delight than the last time I came. Perhaps I'd just come for the salad bar priced at $80 next time. The set lunches aren't that exciting anymore. But I know I should come for dinner one day, yes.

Went to JAR again--this time for their BRUNCHI started off with a Sauvignon Blanc-it was okay (buy 1 get 1 free deal for BRUNCH)I had ordered an EGGS BENEDICT. Others had ordered the PANCAKES or the CROQUE MADAME ALL were GOOD. I'd recommend the 1) Eggs Benedict 2) The Omelets 3) Pancakes 4) Burger or 5) Sheperd's Pie on their brunch menu. As for dessert, we ordered a cross section of recommended sweets; banoffi pie and panacotta. BOTH were GOOD!

We were in the neighbourhood & having just seen a review of this place we thought we'd try it out.I wasn't terribly hungry so I skipped the starter. My friend had the squid & chorizo starter. He assured me that, although the presentation was somewhat lacking (it looked like it had been dolloped onto the plate with a ladle), it was pleasant and tasty & the squid was nicely chargrilled and reasonably tender. He assured me that, although the presentation was somewhat lacking (it looked like it had been dolloped onto the plate with a ladle), it was pleasant and tasty & the squid was nicely chargrilled and reasonably tender. As a main, I had half a roast chicken with corn on the cob and a few pieces of root vegetable. The chicken was lovely - meaty, juicy and the skin was lovely and crunchy. The corn was delicious but the other vegetables were not terribly interesting. My friend had the Iberico pork, which was juicy, tender, succulent...and almost completely tasteless! Very strange... For dessert I had Key lime cheesecake with lime sorbet. The sorbet was nice but the cheesecake was absolutely leaden and didn't taste much of lime. I should have gone for the chocolate orange dome, which I was assured was very good, as my friend fended off my advances with a spoon!

The winelist was very offputting. Out of about 40 reds, there were 9 (just) under HK$500. This is ridiculous when there is so much good wine available at reasonable prices. And they charge a whopping HK$320 corkage. Ridiculous. We just had a glass of Shiraz & a glass of Merlot.

The food was adequate but it really is Just a Restaurant and I would not be in any hurry to go back.

Went there for Valentine's Day. Service was very nice from booking till actual day.Got special menu $498/per person + 10% service. Added $100 for Australian Wagyu, another ~$100 for really nice champagne per person~6 course meal, each was a surprise! Simple but tasty.The dessert was too sweet for oriental taste, though.Looks like the everyday menu is much much much less expensive (~$150/dish).
