I went to Lamma Island with my girlfriend after a long time and wanted to have lunch there. We were looking for a restaurant so checked in with open rice and found BB Seaview Restaurant.
It looked prommissing with a great view and an outdoor area that we could take our dog.
We ordered Ceasar Salad, Oysters Rockafella, and Fried Peppered Squid. All dishes while eddible were very dissappointing.
The Ceasar Salad was HK$98 + 10%. This seemed reasonable, but what we received was not at all a ceasar salad.
The salad came with crutons that were not toasted but just cubed pieces of bread. The ceasar dressing was sweet and was barely covering the romain leaves, and really did not resemble what a proper ceasar salad should be. They used the parmeasean cheese that was pre grated in the can, not fresh at all. There was some pieces of chopped bacon that were soggy and not crisp like it should be.
Overall for the price, it's not worth it, especially if you consider that the Peak Cafe in Soho charges the same amount for one of the best ceasar salads that I have had.
Deep fried pepper Squid is one of my all time favourite dishes, so I had to order this to try. Typically it is a very local dish that resembles Fried Calamaries. The price was HK$98+ 10%.
The squid was barely covered in batter and in addition, there was little or no Pepper which is what makes the dish have the distinct flavour. It was served with a dipping sauce that tasted like Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce. We had to order more sauce as they gave us very little with the order.
Finally the Oysters Rockafella was HK$ 168 + 10% for 6pcs. Not too bad for the price but the cheese sauce was too runny and I have had much bettter.
This place could be amazing if they stopped cutting corners. They have a fantastic view and the service was not too bad, but they were not very busy so I can't really say how they would perform if the place was full.
