📍Yakiniku Kurashita Was a fan of Nikuya’s home sukiyaki set so was excited to hear that they are having their own yakiniku restaurant. Went all the way to TST and the experience wasn’t as expected. The restaurant is like a much downgraded version of Nikushou. There is just one set menu for dinner, so there is no flexibility. The appetiser trio was presented in a rather sad tray. The various cuts of beef were ok. My favorite is probably the A5 Satsuma Hot Broth Kamenoko and A5 Striploin Sukiyaki. Was quite disappointed on their signature Scallion Wagyu Tongue as it was quite tough and the scallion made it even harder to chew. It was also too big for one bite yet difficult to separate it into another bite.
The Scallion Onsen Egg Seaweed Rice and Wagyu Miso Stew Don, I am sorry, but it’s not up to par. The rice was even mushy.
The deal breaker has got it be the very undertrained staff, especially when they are the ones grilling all the beef for you. There was also something wrong with the grill as well as it’s obvious that all slices kept sticking into the grill and the staff struggled for each piece.
Overall, I would opt for Nikushou if it’s at this price point.
Price: HK$650 pp (dinner)
