Did ask 2 colleagues where to go for a romantic dinner and they both named AMIGO.The atmosphere is romantic and the decoration is classic. The atmosphere is romantic and the decoration is classic. Even the menu had pictures of painting on it.

We ordered caviar and a set dinner for sharing.

Caviar - can be served either with toast or pancake but finally we bargained to have both served.

Goose liver - large piece enough for two to share, and the cook is just perfect. The eaten piece would melt inside the mouth.

StoneClam Chowder Soup - cooked right besides your table and served hot. The clam piece is huge.

Lasagna w/ Prawn and Scallop - The prawn and scallop was fresh and tasty but the lasagna was a little chewy for us.

grapefruit sorbet - small ball in a classic cup.

birthday cake - with candle and specially made with darling's name on it. At this stage, the cake was little heavy for us as we were already full.

Chocolate Mousse - chocolate pudding came with chocolate balls with mint core.

Tea - a good refreshment after the dessert.

There was sufficient waiters to make the service attentive. The live band would sing in front of your table and could sing most of the songs (even chinese ones).

Considering the atmosphere and food quality, I would say the set dinner is a bargain. A good place for celebration on special day.

Hi, this is my first review on open rice. My girlfriend and I went to Amigo last night to celebrate our second anniversary. I have made reservation in advance but when I called few hours before dinner to confirm, they said they have made mistake in the booking, they thought our reservation was the day before. We arrived right on time, they printed my girlfriend’s name on the reservation tag, a very thoughtful souvenir. However, our seats were surrounded by bunch of smokers and we requested to move to other table.

The wine list was heavy as hell and it’s difficult for us to finish a whole bottle, even a half bottle is too much for the two of us. So we ordered one glass of white wine and one glass of red wine instead.

For the two of us, we ordered a 3 course set dinner, with duck liver, sea bass, dessert and coffee. In addition, I ordered an ox kidney.

The quality of the food is average or a bit above average. It’s the little stuff that gave us surprise such as serving sorbet after appetizer to clear the taste, a red rose for the ladies, cubic sugar (haven’t seen that for awhile), golden toothpick box.

After the dessert, we were pretty much full, I was waiting for my “Surprise”to come which is the Napoleon cake that reads “Happy Anniversary”. However, we waited and waited but the performers keep on singing at other tables. There were lots of birthday and anniversary celebration last night. The performers sang lots of popular love song as well as Spanish song.

At least, the waiter brought out the cake with candle, and the performers starting singing songs.

We forgot to bring a camera last night, but I guess it won’t do us much good since the light is so dim. However, the waiter helped us to take an instant picture and framed it for us with the restaurant’s name and date on it.

Time to pay the bill. With 2 glasses of wine, a 3 course set dinner, additional main dish, Napoleon cake, Grand total is about 1100. I would say the price is a bit over priced for the food quality. But with their excellent environment and atmosphere, I believe it’s value for money.

Although I found the environment and atmosphere quite good and romantic, I don’t get the feeling that I am dinning at a Fine Dinning restaurant (with more formal rules), I get the feeling that I am eating at a “High end Chinese style, pretend to be fine dinning restaurant”.

Areas to be improved: I read articles about the attitude and poor service from the waiters, with my low expectation, it turns out their service is not that bad at all, although not professional enough, but not as bad as others had described. I like the way they serve you the dish, they put all your food on a cart and serve it on dish right in front of you. However, when they were serving our main dish, the waiter was backing us and had blocked the view of what he’s doing on the cart.

昨日是小妺的生日,男友帶我去呢間餐廰食晚餐.....昨夜簡直係Birthday night, 我諗我聽左8-9次Birthday song, of course 8次之中1次係我架啦...但係我男友唔知有birthday cake同即映即有相做記念呢樣野可以request, 所以我無拿破倫蛋糕同相囉.....不過唔緊要啦,我想我重會有機會去呢間餐廳食...不過有樣野想講.. 就係當singer去到我地個,男友同歌手講今日係我生日既時候....男友見到企我地側面既侍應哥哥1號同侍應哥哥2號講,<喂,生日喎>,侍應哥哥2號個樣就變左喇...快過我地國術表演彭登懷,就係扮睇唔到喇....呢樣野我覺得唔應該一間高級餐廰到見到囉....雖然我地訂係無request,但係我覺得如果佢地可以做到就算無蛋糕都同你地映一張即映即有相做記念,我會覺得呢間餐廳係一間以顧客為上,同埋真係好有Heart既一間餐廳..不過算喇...打工此終都係打工....係唔同架..講番食物...叫左四道菜,鵝肝,忌廉湯,牛扒,芝士餅, 另一個要煙三文魚,清雞湯,羊架,橙疏乎厘....加一枝紅酒....個人認為.

個人認為...鵝肝有筋..牛扖太UN,話明5成熟..上到碟都8成....芝士餅太甜...
煙三文魚還可以,雞湯無特別,不過個羊架就真係好好食,好少好少蘇味...加埋薄荷喱..好好味...疏乎厘都係甜得滯..不過都好好食..另外就係朱古力薄荷雪糕..苦左少少...
可能有紅酒,所以不太想食甜野...破壞口感..!

This is not the 1st time I went to this restaurant, but this time I feel the food is not special anymore,
I have ordered many people will order “set dinner”:-
Foie Gras with truffle sauce, Parma ham with melon and pawns
Cream Chowder with clam, wild mushroom clear soup,
Steak with Foie Gras sauce, Sea Brass
Napoleon cake, Orange Souffle;
And mint chocolate ice cream

The Foie Gras was not bad, inside is firm but outside not crisp. The truffle sauce are so so.

The Parma ham with melon and pawns, Parma ham not as good as Sabatini, is like Parking shop stuff; the melon are green melon not the other using orange melon. The pawns are just like other boiled pawns.

The Cream Chowder with clam, the clam is not bad very fresh but the cream soap are a bit on the fatter side.

The Wild mushroom clear soup was a surprise, very clear, very mushroomy.
The Steak with Foie Gras sauce are the “worst”off all, although it has some charcoal flavors but the steak do not have its meaty taste, also the Foie Gras sauce are not very rich. I leave half of the steak on the plate. Very Disappointed.

The Sea Brass was very fresh, meaty and juice, its cook just right. A nice surprise.

The Napoleon cake, like before very crispy not to fatter and very light. Not Bad

The Orange Souffle; I did not taste this one but my friend say, ok but did not have much orange taste.

The Mint Chocolate as usual, very good to round up the meal. Very tasty

Other:
The French Bread are very hot, like just come out from the oven.
The Thin Toast, I always don’t know why someone will take that, because it not very match for the meal.
The Butter, nice presentation (rose shape), tasty but I had better butter.
The Main Course side dish, the pumpkin are very sweet, it should be Japanese Pumpkin. Not Bad

The service like all time very friendly, the mood are very warm. The flower for the ladies are a nice touch.

After all if compare to other restaurant in town, it is “not bad”but this is Amigo, it has to do better than “not bad”beside the price are not that cheap. About HKD850+@ for this price I should be picky about everything.

This is my First Critic in here, hope everyone like it.

(4) Dessert: Passion fruit steamed egg and chocolate brownies with ice cream. The steamed egg is made of real eggs with low water content. The chocolate in the brownies...I believed the choco comes from Belgium, from my experience.
Service is excellent. Environment is excellent and romantic. Waiters are nice and careful. They even talk with us and ask our comments. They are experienced and attentive to all arrangements.
It's worthy to try! Strongly recommended.

I had French onion soup to start, fettucine as entree and Napolean cake for dessert. French onion soup was OK. Fettucine was good. Napoleon cake was good but a little bland. Overall, it was good but overrated; definitely did not qualify as gastronomic. Price was up there, though, so I feel it was a little overpriced.Service was attentive. They also liked to talk to each other, something I observed over the 2-hour dinner.

The decor is minimalist and yes, romantic. It has an impact on diners' behavior - patrons spoke rather softly which made a quiet atmosphere. I can't say this dining environment is common in HK. It's a positive.

Amigo with its long history as one of the finest restaurants in town is still offering its tradition of fine dining. The atmosphere is superb and the service is impeccable .The choices of entree are listless. Fois gras (goose liver) is just so tempting that even with high blood cholesterol level, it is still a must. Instead of tartare, it has an addictive dish of Mongolian raw beef. The wine list ... maybe we should call in a wine book ... will serve every connoisseur.

此食評應是兩年前的事,但到今天才有機會補上。這天特意向公司請了一天假,然後和媽媽到此餐廳吃了一頓午餐。已經於一星期前預了枱,到逹後,心情有點緊張(常聽人說這餐廳是香港top 10內的餐廳,終於有機會來嘗嘗了。)打開menu,可選擇3至5(好似最多是5道菜)道菜,我和媽媽都選了5道菜(我記得我們選的是全餐,呵呵…吃飽後真的有點覺得我倆的胃實在大得嚇人。)餐湯會有專人在你面前煮,前菜的鵝肝實在好吃得十分難忘!那入口即溶及鵝肝特有的甘香,媽媽咪啊!吃完鵝肝會有數粒朱古力包著薄荷雪糕的小吃給你清清味蕾,之後的主菜我要了鴨胸,媽媽要了牛柳,甜品我問他們可否轉為那裏頗有名的拿破崙,他們說沒有問題。坦白講,拿破崙我是覺得好吃,但不至於會令我難忘。此頓午餐由小女子破費!媽媽,真的很貴啊!

呢度好多侍應...我覺得好似多得滯....攪到間野好似好多人咁....每次推餐車出黎既人都好似唔同樣咁...不過個個都好有禮貌...

裝修其實幾靚...但係人太多....欣賞唔到....

I love the classic french style here. What a romantic place! I love their life bands very much (classic one - three of them playing different guitars). Please dress up. I heard that they are serviuos dress code long long time ago but now is more flexible. If you don't dress up you might feel uncomfortable because the enviornment is so elegant and impressed.Foods are good. Waiter will introduce you the best for the day. (It seems that they only have waiter but don't have waitress)Wines: Mus

Foods are good. Waiter will introduce you the best for the day. (It seems that they only have waiter but don't have waitress)

Wines: Must try. Many good french wines from $500-$XXXX. However, the waiters are not professional in wines. They can tell you which one is good but not in details. Believe or not. But to my knowledge they have many good choice. If you can't finish one bottle they have 1/2 port. (I ordered 1/2 port Champagne $450 and 1/2 port Bordeaux Red Wine $750)

Services: Okay but not outstanding. Can be better i believe.

$$$: Set is very valuable. Must try. You can choose 3 courses or 4 courses (with or without soup). Not too expensive if you don't order wine.

As a Scottish artist myself, I find Amigo's Mansion the most exquisite dining place in Hong Kong. The paintings by Sir William Russel Flint are a delight to behold. It is my favourite place to have dinner bought for me by beautiful women (well I am Scottish). The foie gras is par-excellence. The sorbet given between courses is a nice touch. The whole dining experience is unquestionably sumptuous. The only negative point is the lack of an exclusive non-smoking area.
