Tearapy is a place I've heard lots about. There are thousands of reviews and it seems everyone has been there. Except me. I was wary. It seemed like all those other restaurants in Mong Kok that are just for the photo and really not for the food. Entering you see a place for phototaking. There was already a tiny line of people doing just that. The place isn't very big but it is spacious enough. As we hadn't made a booking, they placed us at some high chair seats facing the window.
Menu is in English and Chinese. Ordering is done by scanning a QR code that is in Chinese only. There is no English available even when we changed the setting. But it wasn't too difficult to understand. They have burgers, pastas and naan bread along with Taiwanese style bubble tea drinks.
I ordered something called the Meiji Milk with Cocoa, Brown Sugar Pearls ($44). It was presented dirty style which was clearly spilling with cocoa powder every where. Not too sweet and very milky. I loved especially the boba as it was sweet and chewy.
oyfriend had the Honeydew and Green Grape Jasmine ($45). This was very good. Better than my drink. They really blended honeydew and grape so you could still chew on the pulp. We were expecting flavoured syrup but this wasn't the case.
We shared two mains. One was the Satay Angus Beef Slice and Beef Burger with Fries and Caesar Salad ($168). It said it was a birdcage burger. At first we just thought that's what it was called but then when it appeared it surprisingly was place in a birdcage. A plating that was definitely different.
The burger was actually quite good. The bun was a sweet brioche. The patty was moist and juicy. On top was slices of beef covered in satay sauce. Some cheese and lettuce was also included. The fries were very crispy. Crispy to the point of like chips. A generous Caesar salad was added as well that was heavily layered with the dressing and grated Parmesan powder.
The other main was the Signature Giant King Prawn Fettucine in Creamy Lobster Sauce ($188). This came out as a surprise as well. The prawn was definitely king size. But what was most interesting was it was coated in sakura shrimp and then deep fried. Like a makeshift panko coating. The pasta was said to be handmade and was coated well in the umami cream sauce.
Portions was generous. It is definitely enough to share. The drinks were really excellent and I'd definitely be back to grab another drink next time. I can see why it is popular. Be sure to make reservations because they are very busy.
