My student and I went to the same street for lunch as usual after our lesson, This time, we chose to have lunch in this Singaporean restaurant featuring genuine seafood laska. Warning. The delicious alert was raised.
Once we stepped into the restaurant, we were impressed by how spacious the place was for diners. Unlike most of the other restaurants on the same street with limited space for us to move our hands to use tableware, the seats were comfortable and the restaurants seemed not to be too crowded even if all seats were taken. The decor was fine and it was really clean at first sight.
We ordered one lobster laksa, one chicken laksa and one plate of spicy chicken wings as our shared side dish. The drink that I ordered was iced milk tea and it tasted nice. I am a milk tea lover and I could guarantee that with my discriminating palate.
The staff seemed inexperienced but the service was no nonsense.
Finally, the laksas were served. The smell was incredible. The taste was deliciously spicy with a perfect amount of hint of coconut. The laksas spoke for themselves - a coconut-milk soup shiny with tempting orange chili oil and white rice vermicelli. The half hard-boiled egg was appetizing. The rice vermicelli was cooked to perfection with great texture. Every bite of the rice vermicelli could give you thrill with the savoury laksa.
Nevertheless, the proteins were a bit disappointing. The chicken and the lobster we had were a bit under-flavoured, as well as the bean curd puffs with lots of water inside.
The chicken wings were a pity. While they were cooked with crispy skin and tender meat, the spicy sauce was a bit too sweet. Moreover, there were only three chicken wings on the plate with a price of over $20.
All in all, the final verdict was such a spicy noodle soup was unmissable. This genuine seafood laksa restaurant is going to be re-visited by us very soon.
Just come to this restaurant and try if you are on this street. It will not be disappointing; instead, it is surprising. Affordable price, amazing food.
P.S.
There was one more thing worth mentioning. What we ordered included lobster and chicken wings but we did not have any plate to place our leftover while enjoying the rest of the food. We resorted to putting the shell of the lobster and the bones of the chicken wings onto the table, which created unnecessary cleaning-up if we had been provided with an empty plate beside our dishes.
