For some reason, I found out this shop around 3-4 weeks ago purely by accident - and I had presumed it has always been here in Hong Kong under the radar... For some reason, I found out this shop around 3-4 weeks ago purely by accident - and I had presumed it has always been here in Hong Kong under the radar... Little did I suspect that this is actually a brand new shop, considering they have had this in Malaysia for a while
(Only discovered that this is indeed a new business from a recent magazine)
The shop mainly sells Danish Bread - UNFORTUNATELY, the signature Danish Bread stick is not available as yet. However they sell Pastas, Jams, Danish Loaf, etc:

1) Ice Coffee - A bit too light on this occasion. It reminded me of 炭焼 Coffee from MOS Burger even though its not advertised as such! It has potential!

2) Fried Spicy Chicken Sandwich with Gherkin Pickle ($75 incld. coffee/tea)
- Using the Danish Loafs, these were toasted to a dark brown, topped with a margarine spread. The chicken thigh sandwiches inbetween was really thick, it has a flour and peppery coating deep fried to a dark golden brown colour. Finished with shredded lettuce and a bit of mayo.
The bread was very fluffy with its 81 rolled layers, more so than similar imported Japanese shops locally! It resembled a brioche in texture and taste. It was also quite aromatic. The chicken was tasty and very moist and tender. AWESOME! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
3) French Toast ($65 incld. 1 drink) - Using the same Danish loafs, these were surprisingly completely soaked in a very sugary milk/egg mixture, which after cooking resembled a very sweet custard rather than an eggy taste. It was too wet, too soft and too sweet. It was like the molten bread in an hearty bread filled Italian Soup if you know what I mean.
I think this 'Danish Brioche-Pastry' like bread did not suit the Pain Perdu or French Toast preparation - as normal French Brioche or Baguette slices aren't as soft relatively speaking and full of voided space and air as the Bo-lo'gne's bread version. In fact tracing back to the origin, the French invented this dish as a mean of reheating old bread that's otherwise wasted - they use the wet eggy mixture to soak and then soften overnight 'hardened' bread in the 1st place. Sorry to sound harsh but this formula needs a bit of tweaking in my honest opinion: even though Brioche French Toast is one of my favourite dishes, it should be looked at as a case-by-case application!
*Perhaps less milk and sugar but more eggys, as well as more frying, would make it a better dish, less soggy and custardy dish.
The accompanying drizzle of honey on top was really great however - although it wasn't deliberate, it somehow reminded me of Orange Blossom honey with its slightly citrusy aroma. If only Hong Kong French Toasts used these or the Canadian maple syrups rather than the ordinary syrups... wishful thinking.

4) Red Tea - This tea was quite aromatic and had a middle length aftertaste and then a grippy finish. It was made from a quality triangular teabag. I love Red Tea with sweet stuff! Match-in-Heaven!
5) Take Away Danish Loaf ($53) - As mentioned, the other signature Danish Bread stick isn't available until later this month. So I ended up opting for a thick cut slab of this loaf, even though its the same bread as my 2 dishes above. I ate a slice after getting home and discovered that this bread is actually quite moist - despite its fluffiness it was really 'heavy' in the hand, the whole thing was stuffed full of margarine and smells really nice!
The taste of the bread without any additional margarine didn't have a lot of buttery/margarine taste, surprisingly - it smells great nevertheless! It was also a pain to toast at home due to the moisture, I think it needs very slow toasting methods in an oven to bring out its best, rather than in a toaster or pan.

- WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THE LIGHT FLUFFY BREAD! ALTHOUGH I ATE AND CLEARED ALL THE ABOVE BY MYSELF... ITS NOT EXACTLY FILLING.
- SERVICE WAS WONDERFUL AS EXPECTED.
- NEED TO TRY THE JAMS, PASTAS, BREAKFAST AND OTHER DANISH BREADS WHEN THEY ARRIVE!
Awesome Spicy Chicken Sandwich!
