I have been to there twice. The first time I went was in mid of December 2008. The second time was last night (Mar 2009).
In the first time, when I get into the restaurant, I found that the layout of the restaurant is good, on the left side, there was a number of 4 seats (with back pad) grouped table; On the right side, there was a long bench with several separated tables and non-back packed seats.
At that time, the shop was about 60% full, most of the 4 seats grouped tables were empty. Then I asked the staff if we could sit in there, they said no, because all the seats were being reserved. I think that's fine, may be they have reserved for some VIPs... So I went to another restaurant on the same street. After finishing the meal (1 hour later), I went back to 八王子 to double check if those seats are still empty or not. The result is.... empty. Well, the conclusion after the first visit is, they prefer people to reserve the seats before visiting, no walk-ins will be entertained, sorry.
Last night, me and my girl friend wanted to eat Japanese style dinner, and we were in TST, so we re-visit 八王子 again. After sitting down, we made ordered, we ordered two dishes of sushi, and one dish of 炒烏東.
About the service, I think it's fine, they have 6 staffs in the shop, which I think is more than enough for last night, and that's one of the reasons that they could serve us promptly.
About the food, one word, TOO SALTY. I don't know why they can make such a salty food.
The sushi are too small (only half size of those in the chain-store sushi restaurants), the 烏東 is full of oil in the dish. And I can't taste what's inside the dish, I can only see some leaves of vegetables, but there's no any other taste except salty taste.
At last, it cost $200 for this salty dinner.
