It's always a difficult choice when you are walking along the Shau Kei Wan Main Street East and you need to choose a restaurant for dinner. It has never crossed my mind that I could have proper filling meals at this place since BBQ skewers are always the snack kind of food to me. But my dining experience this time has surprised me with so much more! One of the appetisers that I would for sure recommend is the signature "drunken" baby pigeons. They are so well marinated and yet without a too strong alcohol kick that I could totally accept as a non-drinker. Another highlight of the meal would be their seafood which was all the fresh catch of the day. I love the super juicy scallop that was treated in simple cooking to bring out the most of its original flavour. Be sure also to order their roasted whole fish where they pre-treat it with Chinese dried fruit peel beforehand to take away the fishy taste. Refreshing and fulfilling dish indeed when served with the Thai dressing on the side. And if you are still hungry after there, they've got you covered with quite a selection of mains ranging from fried rice to even pasta. We chose another eye-catching item on the menu which was this oyster rice roll. And we absolutely loved it. You get a crunchy rice roll soaked in flavourful Japanese soya sauce topped with a super big and fresh oyster on top. My friend and I have made a mental note to self that we have to save some room to give their desserts a try next time! …查看更多
I have always loved the desserts here despite the forever long queue. And this time we were finally back to try out some proper meal items on the menu.I was indeed surprised to find the wide variety of dishes ranging from light bites to main dishes finished off by their signature desserts. I was overjoyed to see the baby lobster croissant and simply had to go for it. There is a generous amount of fresh baby lobster bites in the croissant. Something more special about this lobster bun is that they also add in my favourite egg salad and a mountain of caviar on top to make a scrumptious bun. Those crispy fries on the side are indeed a bonus as well.My boyfriend ordered the seafood risotto since he was looking for something more filling. This dish is actually done surprising well with the rice cooked till just right retaining that al dente texture. You could also taste the rich saffron flavour in the broth as well as a fresh mix of seafood to go with it. Certainly a recommended item from me here!As for drinks, we had the green tea yuzu smoothie as well as the grapefruit pineapple tea. The latter is not too sweet though the grapefruit is kinda masked by the pineapple flavour. And although green tea and yuzu don't sound to be the perfect combination upon first hearing it, they go unexpectly well with each other such that the slightly sour yuzu helps balance out the sweet and rich green tea ice cream on top. Interesting special drink here to quench the summer thirst just right. Already thinking about whether I should have the savoury or sweet stuff next time, or maybe both? …查看更多
I've noted this new bar among LKF for some time and finally decided to try it out with my girls tonight. As its name implies, the interior design is based on the theme of mines while maintaining a chic style. Since I am not much of an alcohol person, I went for the mocktails instead while my friends ordered the special cocktails. Island Bliss is a blend of fresh kiwi and bananas on a base of orange and pineapple juice. And surprisingly, bananas don't dominate as in most drinks with it. Instead, they make a good refreshing drink and is not artificially over-sweet as a bonus. I have a thing for buffalo wings and simply cannot resist ordering them whenever I see it on the menu This one is pretty good in terms of chicken wings but isn't of the flavours I would expect for buffalo wings. Dip into that bourbon base sauce if you would like some extra stimuli for the dish haha! This one shall be my favourite in terms of food for the night. The pork jow skillets are grilled just on point maintaining a chewy texture and still being succulent. Perfect to go with the slightly sour and spicy thai sauce on the side. We are placing high expectations on this special snack but it turns out rather disspointing. The chicken bites are alright but the waffle underneath is too soaky for my liking. On the whole, nice ambience here with a large screen showing MVs as well while the DJ plays his music! I'd say the waiting time for the food is a bit too long though. …查看更多
This cafe has long been famous for their all-day breakfast. But since it was tea time when my friend and I hit the cafe, we decided to go for the desserts. We ordered a cookies and cream crepe for our sweet tooth and it was chewy and eggy as how it should be. However, the dessert wasn't as sweet as how we have expected it to be. It would be even better as well if served with a scoop of ice cream Next, we also had their all day waffles with bananas as the chosen topping. It's with a fluffy satisfying texture though I still like my waffles slightly crispy on the outside. Both desserts were the less sweetened healthy versions as compared to most local dessert places which is perfect for the health conscious ones! I really like that they make them fresh upon order :)As for drinks, I certainly would recommend their strawberry rose tea especially for the hot summer in Hong Kong. Here they use fresh strawberry puree for the refreshing pinky drink instead of just unnaturally sweet syrup which I absolutely love!…查看更多
Bored with the usual happy hour snacks? This would be your choice next time when hitting Knutsford Terrace. First things first, let's start it off with a round of colourful cocktails. Personally, I am not much of a fan for the booze so the fruity flavours suit me just fine. They've also some pretty creative mocktails if you wanna go for something alcohol-free For the ones who are looking for a "balanced" diet, their caesar salad here is certainly an addictive start to the meal.Next, the nachos are not to be missed. What's not to love when slightly spicy nachos come served with guacamole and that refreshing tomato salsa, finished off with a large devilish dab of cream cheese? And so sure enough, it was gone in no time...Then we came to the mains. Mac and cheese is surely an all-time favourite of mine and for all you cheese lovers out there! That gooey cheese and the al dente macaroni sprinkled with crispy bacon bites on top make the best combination. You may wanna share it among more friends so as to leave room for other main dishes though. The pork belly is another one that shall not be missed. Okay I admit I had a kind of love-hate relationship with it since it was soo nice with a crispy top and well-marinated succulent meat. The thick layer of fat may scare you off a bit but I guess sometimes we all need some indulgence right A meal is never finished without dessert and we were overjoyed to see churros on the menu! These freshly made-to-order churros were nicely flavoured with cinammon. I would have loved a more chewy and filling interior though. Overall, it was an enjoyable night at the bar with the friends even for someone like me who don't drink much :) …查看更多
People always say that girls have got another "stomach" for desserts even after stuffing ourselves with a full meal. To me, it's never a complete meal without desserts!I've heard much about this dessert place and decided to drop by for desserts after dinner nearby. The queue was pretty long even for a weekday night so it got my friend and I anticipating the food much haha.I'm pretty much of a sweet potato fan and was overjoyed to see this pretty one on the menu. The chestnut and sweet potato purée was natural and not too sweet which was nice. Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, this would be one for the ones who would like to opt for a relatively 'healthier' choice Would have loved it better though if they could add more layers of texture to it so that it won't be so mashy on the whole haha. This would be an absolute recommendation from both me and my friend, especially to go with the hojicha craze lately. That gooey hojicha filling is rich and not too sweet. This is simply an indulging treat when devoured together with the ferrero ice cream and hojicha crumbs on the side.…查看更多
Soo excited to be trying out this hidden gem featuring michelin level indian food in North Point with my friend. The restaurant was already pretty crowded and busy when we got there so I'd recommend reserving your seats before your head for a meal. First things first, we have some traditional potato snacks and of course the signature mango lassi to start it off. Their fried mashed potato cutlets carried a hint of spice. Together with some veggie bites mixed inside, this is a pretty good one to wake the appetite up. And if you are a yoghurt lover like me, you'd definitely like their creamy mago lassi as well. On the side note, I also see a lot of other people ordering another pink drink named butter milk which looked pretty interesting as well Next, we ordered their chicken curry with karma sauce from their wide variety of curry choices. This one is non-spicy as I am not really someone keen for the chilli dishes. Nevertheless, I loved the coconut milk flavours infused in the curry and it was a great dish to go with the fluffy cheese naan bread.Lastly, the sizzling hot tandoori dishes were not to be missed. We ordered their tandoori lamb chop which was an item on the list of chef's recommendation. For this price, I must say we were both surprised by the generous portion that that gave. And the lamb chops were so succulent and well marinated with indian spice that it was my favourite dish of the night. …查看更多
Tonight, my sis and I came to Mongkok district to try out yet another newly open cafe. After they kindly let us know the recommendations, we ordered some of their signature dishes.First, we had this Aussie Cheese Fries to start with. The portion is quite large so it probably could be shared among a group of cheese fans haha. The fries are thick and crispy on the outside stacked together with that melting cheeeese. Maybe they could consider adding some mayonnaise or other dressing on the side so that the dish would be less dry?Next came our Burger Aux Champignons. I'm usually not a fan for burgers even with the burger craze in town lately. However, I must say this is of surprising quality for a new cafe! The US beef patty is juicy sandwiched between thick portobello mushroom slices. Not to mention the evil cheddar and a fine touch of truffle mayonnaise. Again a kinda big portion so it could be shared among two girls to leave room for other main courses or dessertsThe really nice chef thencame asking for our opinions and got us some extra dishes to be released soon.A must have for the ones who love deep fried chicken except that this is the much healthier version with chicken breast. I guarantee you though that there is no compromise of the texture. And with that oozing cheese when you cut open the pieces, it is surely another snack not to be missed. As for drinks, we had the Double Chocolate Smoothie as well as Snow Man :3Here they use Dreyer's ice cream to go on top of the drinks. The chocolate smoothie has a rich chocolate flavour to it and an indulgent thick texture. And the cute Snow Man is such a creative combintation mixing coconut and coffee together. First you get a creamy base and that vanilla flavour, followed by some coconut after-taste. Shall be back next time for their other specialty coffee like Tiramisu Latte or Chestnut Cream Latte! Finally, we finished off with some desserts to be released soon on the menu. These pretty sweet potato and cream cheese tarts are not only attractive to the eyes but are also enjoyable to the palate. Here, fresh sweet potato mash is mixed with cream cheese to give a natural flavour stuffed inside the crispy puffs. Cheese tart lovers could also try this varitation which in my opinion is done well with a slightly gooey centre and that cream cheese tartness.Heard that some of their pancakes and waffles are nice too but we were too full to try out those this time. Looking forward to another desserts gathering here next time haha.On the side note, the interior desgin here is simple yet stylish. It is certainly a nice place to hang after some crazy shopping nearby in Mongkok District.…查看更多

Sooo, hello everyone this is Steph. I've been writing up short food reviews on my instagram account but I am new to the Openrice family! To start off the meal, we ordered some drinks. And their signature "Lex Drink" is surely one of the must-order ones. You could choose coffee or chocolate for this and I took the latter one. Basically it's an iced chocolate cube made from Venchi Chocolate with a small glass of steamed milk on the side so you could adjust the concentration by yourself. There is also an accompanying teaspoon of fresh orange peel to enhance the flavours. For the mains, we had the Prawn Capellini with Lobster Sauce & Roasted Pork Rack with Celery Puree. The pasta in my opinion is a little bland though the prawns are fresh and tangy. It would be the choice for those of you who wish to go for something light :) The pork rack was a surprise to us though. It is slow-cooked so it's not as oily as those pan-fried ones. The meat is tender and well marinated with some refreshing celery puree and veggies on the side to balance the meaty dish. And finally the long-awaited desserts! We were gonna order the panna cotta and waffle here but they were all sold out Anyhow the Crème Brulee was soo nice with a thin crispy caramel layer on top and that smooth interior. I could totally finish it all by myself...On the whole, it has been a nice dining experience with the friendly staff. Their barista also explained to us some of the differences in their hand drip coffee while preparing drinks in front of us. And the interior design is just so artsy and comfy that you may wanna stay here for the whole lazy afternoon. …查看更多
