Worst food I have ever paid for in my life. Meat was over cooked and COLD! No sauce came with the steak. I got the 400 gram ribeye and it was $400 hkd of inedible meat. Compared to the neighboring restaurants on high street I think Ollie’s has the best food. I live on the block and often have lunch or brunch on high street on weekdays and weekends. Since coming to ollies I just don’t bother with the other places anymore- the food is much better here and it’s the same price for their lunch deals all over the street. Was introduced to this cha chan tang by my friend who works in the area. Ever since I had it, I’ve been seeking out their dish at other locations in Yau Tong and Quarry Bay as well! I like this restaurant on other days as well since they serve American “southern comfort” type of food. Though that is a loose reference as southern comfort is really mostly fried fatty food. At commissary they strike a good balance. Portions are big and I like the western dishes they offer. Kombucha offering is also good.However, my favourite thing about Commissary is their taco Tuesdays. They have an assortment of 5 to choose from: crab, pork (belly?), chicken, fish (sea bass), steak. They are all good. We ordered 16 tacos for 3 people and we inhaled the plates. They’re small servings but the tacos are really good quality in terms of the meat they serve and the chicken and fish are perfectly fried. I like this store however, nine out of ten times that I come here - they are out of the ingredients to make my drink. I always have to order something really bland with apple or beet that tastes bad because they ran out of avocados or something for another drink.They need to do better keeping fruit in stock bc 75% of the menu is always unavailable when I go there. Disappointing. Also the guy who works here (I think he’s the owner) is not friendly and never smiles. He also likes to close the shop a lot when I’m standing right in front of him looking at the menu. He doesn’t even try to ask if I’m going to order something - he just pulls the gate down on my face. I waited quite a while to come here. The first time I booked they messed up my reservation and I came all the way out there for no reason. Second time I booked online and double checked over the phone. Let’s begin. They serve the meal in three different parts here. First is small bites which are literally just one bite of food. Second are small plates which are barely shareable. And third are the entrees which if you don’t want to read to the end I will tell you to skip bc they are absolutely boring and subpar for the price.I went ahead and ordered one of every small bites dish. This oyster was the perfect bite. Loved it. My date thought it was okay. I would have had a second.This Swedish sushi is their signature, it’s very good but I found it kind of game-y.This is hands down their best dish and I would have had seconds, thirds, fourths!!! In the entire menu this is the only item they really stood out as melt in your mouth delicious.So this was some kind of cauliflower, herring, something “soup” with caviar in the middle? I don’t even know what. It was not remarkable, I would skip this from small plates and get more of the French toast.Next I tried a couple of small plates:This is their signature roasted Hokkaido scallop. It’s very good, but I guess I expected something different and it was the same as any other scallop.This is their veal tartar. Look... I love tartar in all forms but they should have stuck with beef. I think the veal tasted extremely underwhelming, the taste of the meat was far too light.I think I tried one other dish which was the lobster but I didn’t take a photo. It just tasted like lobster. The small plates all in all were good but absolutely nothing stood out about them.This beef main course was terrible. Dry and definitely didn’t belong on this menu.This was was really good but you can barely see it and again, nothing stood out. It was barely two bites for an entree.Ultimately, Frantzen’s kitchen was a huge disappointment. I think their small bites are rare and nice but the small plates were very ordinary and I would skip every main entree here as it was quite shit. It’s not worth all the hype and price. You can go to ANY other fancy hotpot place and still save a ton of money.For starters, if you want to hotpot everyone must spend HKD$230 on a shabu shabu base for themselves which is just regular veggies and broth. Absolutely nothing special about it.Then throw in another HKD$200-450 for five slices of meat. It’s subpar.What’s that you say? You want other food? Sure, the a la carte food price is also ridiculous.Note that for $230 per head just for soup base that your bill is already about a grand for four people, meaning at this point I have already dropped a grand on SOUP. In most hotpot places you can get very decent, nice, all you can eat for much cheaper and if you’re at a FANCY place you will spend half of what I spent tonight and be full.My bill was outrageous. We chose this place at random from openrice and it was a HUGE mistake. Also, there are no tables in this restaurant, only bar seats. I wonder why anyone would ever spend this kind of money on HOTPOT!!!!!!!I usually spent a lot for my meals and freely pay for omakase here and there, but in my four years in Hong Kong this was the worst money I ever spent. Not sure why this place is Michelin star rated, the beef was abysmal.Starters:I had the amberjack and uni carpaccio, it was very good, could have used more uni but this was the highlight of the dinner.These tacos look amazing. But it was insanely salty- really ruined the dish. It was either overpowered by olives or too heavy on the salt.We got two recommendations on the steak, the New York strip was pretty ok, not bad. But also not great. The other cut we got Korean and it was extremely lean and dry. I don’t recommend the steak here at all, I’ve definitely had better.All in all this meal was a disappointment.…查看更多

I can’t believe I’ve never had seafood in Sai Kung before. I used to live next to Lei Yue Mun so never bothered to have seafood after a long day of beach hopping in Sai Kung. Bar none it was the best mantis shrimp I’ve had in HK. Don’t bother going for seafood in Lamma Island, Po Toi, Cheung Chau, etc. because Loaf On is the only place you need to go. Let’s start with their main attraction for appetiser: fried tofu! I hate fried stuff but damn I could eat a mountain of this!!!Next up let’s get straight to the seafood. This is by far the biggest and best mantis shrimp I’ve had in HK. Usually I like to order one shrimp per person but these were so big I think half of one was enough. Just kidding, I could eat ten. See this glorious sea creature for yourself:Moving on, I ordered this spicy snail dish which was too spicy for me but still oh so good. I ordered a coke and ate the whole thing anyway. I’m surprised I haven’t gained five kilos in weight after this meal because I completely over-ordered. Case in point - exhibit D: razor clams. Also surprisingly huge. I could not get enough. 🤤By the time the scallops came out I was already really full, so unfortunately I didn’t really enjoy it. But by golly, the portion of scallop was also HUGE. It was almost the size of my palm (but not quite).I had some veggies and fish soup after this and had to cancel an order of abalone and clam or I’d have to be forklifted home. I was expecting to have a casual dinner here as I always pass by this place on my way home. Turns out they have an omakase style set meal for very decent price and great food.For starters there was this cold dish meat, it was really delicious.First three meats, not sure what they’re called. I really liked these because they weren’t really marinated in sauce but relied on the freshness of the meat and light seasoning for taste.They said this one was one of their more popular dishes among patrons. It’s marinated and saucy but wow it melts in your mouth!The last dish was the best (I may have skipped a few pics bc I ate too fast). We ordered the dinner tasting menu and it was a huge let down. For about 900-1000 hkd you get a few plates and I thought it was actually a fair price as most tasting menus are 1500+. Here’s the problem though: the food was in tiny portions and to be honest not so spectacular, I would have gladly paid more for a REAL tasting menu.Let’s begin with the table starters:I’m not sure why they would ever serve popcorn anywhere for a lavish dining experience. Would have been fine to stick with bread. The little beef thing on the left tasted like freezer meat.Next dish: mushroomTasted great but it was one bite.The dish after was scallop ceviche and it was also one bite of deliciousness.Main dish: pigeonCan you even see the meat? No, me neither. Another huge disappointment here is the plating. It didn’t even look appetising! The pigeon was cooked very nicely but honestly this was a subpar dish in every way.Next dish: fishHonestly, I’ve had better fish in the frozen foods section. And again the plating is sad.Dessert: lots of chocolate They went all out with peanut butter chocolate lollipops and a chocolate mousse - all of which we left on the table. The mouse has a citrus kind taste that didn’t taste like chocolate at all. The lollipop we weren’t a fan of bc its a lot of frozen of peanut butter. This dessert was presented very well but tasted disgusting.All in all this dinner tasting menu was a disaster and I would have gladly paid more for a real meal. Must get the uni wrapped wagyu and beef tartar! The meat here is really awesome. Bar has Japanese whiskey. The beef sticks, premium kalbi are good for bbq. My friend found the wagyu steak for bbq a little too fattie for her taste. I’ve gotta hand it to Larry-he runs this quiet place by himself and he’s an awesome chef. There is no menu in The Moment and he prepares all the food for groups, couples, and the like on the fly. All the dishes are fresh: I’ve had the geoduck a couple of times and it’s to die for. If it’s crab season he will carefully de-shell it for you. He’s a grill master and you can taste this when he starts bringing out the cooked dishes like the duck and eggplant. Yakitori is on point: ox tongue, chicken soft bone, corn, etc. End the night with dessert! I’m not a fan of sweets but I absolutely love the ice cream here- it’s apparently from Japan. The coconut ice cream is so creamy and fragrant it’s a must have. If he has the lemon you should also get that and pour some sake in it at the end, Larry will come over for a toast!This place is BYOB which makes it perfect to come with friends, family, or even a date. Terrible service. Brunch menu has poor UX. Free flow brunch was tiny cups of juice with no alcohol. Super loud rooms. The food was beyond subpar. The waitstaff was not knowledgable about the dishes to answer questions or give recommendations on dishes. Not worth the price.…查看更多
