I was bumbling around Tai Wai a few weeks back when I stumbled across this cafe/restaurant. The decor was nice, as was the vibe but it was quite cramped. I ordered a pasta dish and a coffee, which exact dish has slipped my mind now. After a short wait, my food and drink arrived. As I prodded my dish, I noticed a rather large white eyesore which turned out to be a piece of polystyrene in my pasta. I immediately called the nearest available serving staff, a young lady. She took one glance and nonchalantly replied 'I'll let the kitchen staff know so it doesn’t happen again' then walked away. I was left there to pick out that piece of plastic myself, with no real apology nor compensation. I dined quietly and swiftly left the restaurant, vowing never to return. Overall though I think the taste was okay. Coffee was okay also, everything was splendidly average. Service was sub par.…查看更多

I recently dined at this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by the food. The restaurant was a little hard to find initially. It's tucked away in a rather unassuming building, in Kwun Tong but once you're inside, it's pretty easy navigation. I ordered some Braised Beef Noodles, a safe staple in any Taiwanese noodle place. The presentation was well prepared, a nice touch to make the food more inviting.My partner ordered Scallion Oil Noodles with Beef which had plenty of flavour. Both were good though and I would recommend either. The winner of the evening was definitley the Cheese Omelette with Meat Floss. Crispy and crunchy on the outside, overflowing with cheese on the inside, this felt like such a guilty pleasure. I had to order the Gua Bao, seeing as it is a taiwanese restaurant. Overall, I would recommend at least one visit, even if just to try out the Cheese Omellete with Meat Floss. …查看更多

Greasy and subpar food filled my table. I struggled to finish the food but felt I had to, to make my wallet feel better. I ordered the soyed goose in slices, the braised pork ribs in wine sauce and the pan fried e fu noodles.Let me start with the noodles. Mildly crispy, soggy at the bottom and had so little flavour that I wondered if covid had gotten the better of my taste buds.The braised pork ribs were kinda awful too. The pork just did not taste very nice. The sauce was tasteless. I tried to scoop up as much sauce as I could onto the pork cutlets but alas it did nothing to enhance the flavour nor mask the terrible pork taste.The goose just wasn’t up to par, considering goose is in the name of the brand. Fatty. tasteless. Disappointing. It comes accompanied with two little sauce dishes, neither of which make the eating experience more pleasant.The bill equated to 260 something per person. A waft of spicy fish broth hit my nose as I entered. It was a sign of the good things to come. I opted for the pickled grilled fish, my throat not ready for the spicy signature that evening and some plum juice to wash everything down.The fish was really rather tasty and it was plenty for two people. I found myself uncovering lots of different ingredients throughout the meal and it felt almost endless. Just as I thought I had finished it, I unearthed more! I dined here at lunch hour, during a weekend. This was my first time in this restaurant, it opened relatively recently. Upon looking at the menu, I will say the selection is slightly more limited than I'm used to but maybe this will change over time. The menu features some nice photography to entice you to buy from their selection of hot cantonese food. Alongside this is a mix of Chinese characters: Some dishes are written in Traditional Chinese whilst others are written in Simplified Chinese. This left me some what confused and was a bit of a red flag, much like when you recieve an email from 'Heng Sang' or 'HBSC' asking you to email them back with your mother's maiden name and online banking password. I let it slide after a while and based most of my decision making on them pretty photos. I waited quite a while before my first dish arrived. During this wait, some staff would walk past and try to sell their hot dishes on dim sum carts. At one point, a staff member tried to sell us a dish that was 'made extra/by accident'. We politely declined  and continued to listen to the sweet whistle of our hungry stomachs. After going through two pots of tea, my food arrived. This round, semi transparent ball of something. But wait, there must be a mistake. I dont recall ordering this dish. I flag down a member of staff and ask them what this dish was. The name matched but the image did not. The image in the menu is of a different dish. I explained my dissatisfaction with which the staff replied that they were aware of this issue and that the menus would be updated next month. A diner within our group had moved one of the items on the dish thus they refused to exchange the dish but offered to add the dish we did want onto our order. We declined. Moments later we were told that our rice dish was unavailable so we ordered another. Overall the food was relatively okay. It didnt taste awful but nothing to write home about either. Situated in Tsuen Wan, this little cafe, as the hex code in the name suggests, is very black. It has a very cool all black interior with a very minimalist approach to decor. I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. It came in the shape of a black heart.🖤 both sufficiently meaty and cheesy, this was really rather delicious. My taste buds continued to be tickled by the black ham and cheese croissant. For dessert, we got an Oreo macaron, a strawberry macaron and a Matcha Charcoal Chocolate Cake. 🍰For me, these are always a fail-safe option. I love Macarons and these certainly didn’t disappoint. Hillwood Road is home to a lot of interesting, and tasty restaurants but I had only recently stumbled across Just'er, a bar and restaurant. Inside, the loud interior of neon signs and dark furniture definitely gives off a certain vibe. I felt like I was walking into a party. The restaurant is quite small but has enough seating to get rowdy! I had the assorted platter set for 2. Featuring an array of food from BOTH land and sea, it's more or less a Surf & Turf. The amount we got left me quite surprised. It was so packed, some fries almost slid off the edge. Quite a sight indeed!   A beautiful red lobster sat triumphantly on top of a large cluster of fries and salad, accompanied by a sous vide chicken, a rack of bbq ribs, a whole soft shell crab AND a fillet of fish! The chicken, in particular, is noteworthy as it was the clear winner of the platter. Tender, well seasoned and well proportioned.It was plenty for 2 and would no doubt be a bit challenging for one, though I don't doubt that some champions out there could wolf this down in one solo sitting. To wash down my meal, we ordered a Pineapple & Passionfruit Slush which was rather delightful. …查看更多

Madog offers a rather eclectic range of hot dog flavours. They’ve really gone out of their way to ensure that you’ll gain a different perspective on what they taste like.  Utilising a range of popular flavours from other foods, they offer selections such as:This one looks particularly nuts! Sadly, I was not there to dine, only to take snaps so I can’t comment on the flavour. This is one of many restaurants that I had photographed but had not dined in, though during the photoshoot I came to get a better insight on the food being promoted on the menu. 404 Plant is completely vegan. 100%. everything in the menu is good for the soul and will surely earn you some karma points. Their big thing is that they make all these crazy dishes whilst remaining Vegan. Like, for example, take these crazy bagels:And these burgers:I think they’ve done really well to make the food as meatilicious as possible but the taste and texture is what’s going to make all the difference. After a long photoshoot, I dragged my sorry carcass to a nearby coffee shop for a drip of energy 🔋 and a plate full of joy ❤️ . I had never heard of the place but the good people of OpenRice seemed to enjoy it thus I thought I’d give it a try. The shop front is quite unassuming . It’s a chic black and white design with funky cartoon drawings on the white canvas. The illustrations continue in the interior of the shop as well as on the menu. Very cute!A secret shame of mine is that I often look at photos on a restaurant’s IG or OpenRice before ordering. I need visual delights to guide my decision and the first thing that popped out at me was definitely the croffle.It’s sexy. Wasn’t too bad on the taste buds either. Coated in powdered sugar, the waffle was a spongy delight.To wash it down, I chose a French Earl Grey with Milk which was an absolute winner. It came delivered to me in a small wooden tray with a beaker of milk and a black pot. Felt like I was concocting a new Earl Grey drink. All in all, it’s a nice and spacious coffee shop. Can definitely sit there for an hour or two to enjoy a drink with a book though be aware that it closes at 5:30 on a weekday.…查看更多

Long Ping. It’s busy. It’s bustling as it’s practically Yuen Long, however there’s a housing estate that’s home to a quiet little coffee shop called Cruising Coffee. Inside, it’s small. Some might call it cosy. The decor was nice, quite inviting inside, but I opted to sit outside. The housing estate shields you from the noises beyond so I got to enjoy my coffee in peace. 😌We ordered a Butterfly Pea Lemon Tea and a cappuccino. For me, a cappuccino helps me decipher whether the quality of coffee in a cafe is good or not. Not a very scientific way to measure things but hey it works for me. The coffee was good. I enjoyed it. To go with our coffees, we ordered two cakes: one Original Scone and Hojicha Basque Burnt Cheesecake. 🍰To my dismay, they looked like kid’s portions. The scone perfectly reflected my pre-caffeinated mood ‘zzz’.It was tasty enough to perk me up, and their Homemade Passionfruit Jam is a must-try!Next was the cheescake. Short and stubby. It tasted good but the size just wasn’t satisfying.When the weather is nice, it’s a lovely place to sit and have coffee. Nestled in sleepy Kam Tin is this small modern coffee shop. It does stick out a little from the surrounding environment, which adds to some of it’s charm. It’s garnered quite the reputation for its good food 🍝and good coffee ☕️.The cafe is split into two sides, one across from the other. Inside, the interior was clean and chic. Adorned all around were mascots of a coffee lover. If the smell of freshly ground coffee didn’t get this point across, the plethora of coffee equipment surely would have. Inside, the ambience is generally quite quiet. It’s a place to chill out and escape the noise, unlike your local Starbucks🧜‍♀️. As I sat and admired how comfy the seats were, the staff bantered by the brewing station. Good vibes all round.The presentation of the cappuccino was very nice. It came on a wooden slab and tasted pretty good too. They clearly knew what they were doing with their brews. I accompanied my coffee with a slice of apple crumb cake, which was okay but didn’t exceed my expectations.Overall, I would recommend a visit to this cool little place. The restaurant has obviously spent some time designing the wonderful decor that really transports you out of Hong Kong, even if just for a moment. Whilst clearly aimed at the social media crowd, I couldn’t help but admire the work out in to the interior design. The presentation doesn’t stop at the decor. To find myself in a quiet haven amidst the hustle and bustle of Yuen Long, is a luxury I did not imagine I would have today. I was pleasantly surprised to come across this little restaurant at the end of what felt like an epic walk.Outside, the world is noisy. Chaotic. An assault on the ears. Once you step into the restaurant, though, it feels like you've walked into noise cancellation mode. 🎧Chit Chai has a certain ambience and feel to it. I wouldn't describe it as Japanese, despite what's on the menu, but it's definitely earthy. The first thing you'll likely notice is the instagrammable table setup they have right next to that pretty window. It's a small wooden table that really only seats one comfortably. Of course I chose to sit there, I already had my camera app ready. 🤳🏻The menu is cute. You have these three columns, each adorned with some colourful icons.We ordered two drinks. Top marks for presentation as both drinks were pretty to look at. Taste wise, I'd say it's nothing to write home about. 👀Hats off to the chef for these pork cutlet strips for they were both juicy and full of flavour. The breadcrumb crust was also nice and crunchy and didn't crumble. The curry was okay but the real winner here was the pork. Despite quite a long soaking, they still let off an ear shattering crunch. 🤤Sukiyaki was alright. It wasn't as punchy as I'd have liked it to be though. The flavour was quite mild and the egg did most of the legwork, but still, it was enough to keep my tastebuds satisfied.Definitely worth a visit. I'd consider returning, especially for the Katsukare.
