I have to say the service was strange starting the day before I went for my meal. I have a habit to phone to confirm my booking even if I booked through email or Openrice. When I phoned the day before, they said they did not have my booking despite I was staring right at my Openrice booking. They said they still have vacancy so I booked through the phone and they asked me to cancel the Openrice booking. We were shown to our seat but the female staff explained the menu so quickly including how they substituted the cake with Miffy mooncake(fine by me) and what drinks were included and what drinks required an extra price. I could barely catch up with half of what she explained.
Since we came for the Miffy Afternoon Tea, we decided to have the Miffy Latte. The female staff said we can enjoy a 20% discount for the drink(that would still be an additional 54.4 per drink). However, when we ordered our drinks, the male staff who took our order insisted the set only included certain drinks while we explained we were willing to pay the extra, he said then we have to pay the full price. We were baffled but since we both heard the 20% discount, we wanted to clarify but he continued to say it is the full price. It got to a point where we wanted to ask the female staff to come to clarify. By then the male staff said he will clarify and left(??so he assumed we will order the drink even if full price).
The Miffy Tea Set came and it was definitely cute to look at. However, besides the mooncake, actually there were no food items that have Miffy on it.
The mooncake was definitely the best food item out of the whole tea set.
For the savory, the crackers still maintained their crunch, which was a good thing.
The fruits were fresh though the kiwifruit and strawberries were a tad on the sour side(despite I enjoy tarty food already)
For $54, our first latte came and you see that Miffy is almost missing an ear. If the price of the tea set includes the drink, I may have accepted this but for an additional $54, this really is not acceptable. Subsequently, the second latte was not served for some time and we asked twice(the second time we made sure we asked the first female staff, albeit speaking quickly yet seemingly the most competent) before we got our second latte which they finally got it right. However, by then the first latte was lukewarm already.
I checked the price the end and they did give us the 20% discount for drinks. However, the fact the male server did not come back to clarify about this was weird. They really should have better communication between staff or simply add this "upgrade" to the menu.Overall, if am just reviewing the Afternoon Tea Set, I would have given this review a Ok/Good but with the service, I have to give it a poor review.
