12 of us went there for a 12 people set meal. The variety of food was very limited. I think they really overdo their cost control. Got a platter of 5 small dishes. They gave us whatever were available cheap based on their own judgement. We need to specifically asked for goose in order to have it as one dish. But actually, when it came to the table, no goose, and we needed to ask for a change. And there is a chicken in one of the dishes, but we actually have another chicken as main dish!
The snake soup has no snake at all. If they want to cut cost, they may as well learn from the other cheap restaurant and throw in some pork or chicken. But they didn't. They just put in water and corn starch. Very disappointing.
The big eel was alright. Something I haven't tried before. Eel like a piece of steak.
The lamb was another disappointment. When you eat lamb in Chinese restaurant, you expect "black grass lamb". Although bony, it's rich in flavour. I have a good feeling that the lamb they use is frozen lamb rack and shank. No lamb flavour.
Big shrimp cooked in chicken broth. The shrimp was not very fresh, and cleaned up properly.
The chicken was again horrible. No taste at all.
Then we have sticky rice, dumpling, and dessert soup. These 3 were alright.
Although the foods were bad, the service was excellent. Willing to offer help, patient, keep changing plate, etc. Very nice.
But still, for $2,400 we spent, the foods are just horrible.
