We came with another couple and found this place very cozy and welcoming, tucked away just enough to make one feel you've lifted yourself into a small countryside bistro in France. The menu was cute, written on a blackboard for plats du jour, and also in a spiral notebook for the regular, just like back in school days.
The food were all made with fresh ingredients, with special emphasis on the portion and flavouring, and the presentation was hearty and rustic (in a good way). We particularly liked the smoked salmon salad and the boeuf bourgignon, and were happy the chef could accommodate for one of the guest's hankering for potatos with sour cream.
After dinner, the candy jar was passed around with the bill, but we managed to latch onto the next table's jar before our bill arrived. Desserts were standard, creme brulee and molten chocolate cake, both tasty but somewhat eclipsed by the wonderful savoury dishes we've stuffed ourselves with earlier.
