For some reason or another, boyfriend and I walked from Mong Kok to the Ho Man Tin area. A long time ago, Ho Man Tin had a lot of interesting eateries. But some how along the way, we have since forgotten about it. So, upon wanting to find a cafe (that was closed when we got there), we came across 御勝牛.A tiny little shop, it appeared to serve various Japanese wagyu beef items in a very street level way. A tiny little shop, it appeared to serve various Japanese wagyu beef items in a very street level way. Nothing fancy. Just to fill your stomach.
Menu is in Chinese only. There is no 10% service charge. There is a seating available but more along the lines of benches along the wall. Everything comes with a bowl of miso soup unless you switch to udon. Things are made to order and there was only one person working. So, food does take a while to be served.
Boyfriend had the wagyu beef rice bowl ($88). It came with a bowl of miso soup. Portion size was fairly decent. It definitely smelled fantastic.
There was more than enough sauce and the black pepper wasn't over powering. The beef was moist and juicy.
I had the Miyazaki pork udon ($68). The portion here was pretty big. The tonkatsu soup base was a bit on the sweet side. It came with a generous amount of pork that was lightly seared and well seasoned. The meat was tender. There was also some imitation crab meat as well as corn kernals.
Prices were not cheap but at least portion size was generous. There were a lot of people waiting for take away so it must be popular with the people who live in the area. An interesting little find in Ho Man Tin.
