What can I say... I've eaten here with my girlfriend at least 20 times now and even become aquainted with the owner Joe and his wife.

Originally I stumbled upon this place when I first came to Hong Kong and was living in Mongkok. Being a fan of ramen and my girlfriend being Korean (Korean's frigging love ramen), we were excited to see what this place had to offer. Instantly we were surprised by the fact that all of the ramen is tomato? It seemed strange at first, after never hearing of tomato based ramen before, despite traveling a decent amount of Japan. Joe was happy to explain the menu and explain where tomato ramen originates from (I've forgot exactly what he said, I'll ask again next time!).

So of course we had to try it. She took the eggplant ramen and I took the "hamburger" style one. They're both frigging delicious. The tomato sauce has a variety of flavors and richness. There is a lot of fresh vegetables hiding deep inside the bowl. The noodles actually have some flavor unlike a lot of ramen restaurants in Hong Kong.

After my first experience here, it became a weekly restaurant to visit while I lived in Mongkok. Now I live in the NT and still head to Mongkok frequently just to eat this ramen.

Okay so to give a fair review;

Price - Ranging from 80-95HKD, it seems perfectly inline with other ramen restaurants.

Service - Friendly waitors, friendly owner. Accomodating to Cantonese, English, Korean, Japanese, etc people.

Food - Delicious, otherwise why would I have ate here so many times?

Portion - One of my biggest annoyances in Hong Kong is that everytime I've visited ramen restaurants the portion is extremely small. There isn't a lot of noodles, there isn't a lot of meat and I need to constantly pay extra to add more (e.g. a really famous ramen restaurant that services two very tiny pieces of pork, and hardly any noodles, but makes money off its soup base along). Thankfully, this place has BIG portions that leave you feeling like you've actually ate something. The bowl is big, there are vegetables stuff in with lots of noodles.

Menu - Enough variety to satisfy people. I know Joe plans to expand the menu in the future, but I think the menu is good enough now. Keeping menu's simple, allows the cooks to focus on the most important point - taste.

Joe if you read this review (he didn't ask me to write this, nor do I gain anything from it, I just felt like I owed him for all the good discussions we've had about HK, Korea and Japan and advice he gave me when I first came to HK), your ramen is delicious and I hope that your restaurant continues to be successful. I hope that one eventually you'll expand the restaurant in size - so that when more people discover this place, I'll never need to wait in line.
