A few days ago, a coworker brough to work takeaway from a restauant called 士林·便丼達人 (English name: Master.Shilin). It looked really good and I told boyfriend about it. So, we went to look for it as it was in the Wanchai area, close enough to home for take away.Though technically in Wanchai, it's actually closer to Causeway Bay.  The place wasn't very big but it did have an interesting drawing on the outside wall of their restaurant. Though geared for takeaway, they do have a few bench like seats

Though geared for takeaway, they do have a few bench like seats facing the wall for dine in. As there was room, we decided to just eat there.

Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge.  They offer a large variety of items including meal sets that include a main, vegetable, rice and drink and Taiwanese style bentos as well as popular Taiwanese night market snacks. Mains and bentos include a drink with possible upgrades.

We decided to upgrade our drinks to their Shilin Bottle series. I had the Milk Tea ($10, on the left) and boyfriend had the White Gourd with Lemon ($12, on the right). The milk tea was fragrant but I thought hte winter gourd was better. Sweet and sour at the same time. Perfectly refreshing to compliment the meal.

I had the Handmade Grilled Chicken Hammer ($58) and decided to change Taiwanse flat noodle as I didn't want rice. There was a lot in this hefty bowl. Three chicken drumlets, a braised daikon, cabbage, a marinaded egg, pickles and lots of mince pork to truly coat everything well. And it was delicious. Full of flavor. The chicken drumlets were not overcooked and still juicy. And piping hot as it was fresh from the fryer.

Boyfriend had the Taiwanese Style Taro Braised Chicken Pot with Rice ($70). This was bigger than expected as it was not just all sauce. It was filled to the brim. The chicken was still juicy. There were chunks of taro. And the sauce. WOW. The sauce was so rich and sweet with the taste of taro and coconut milk. This was fabulous. This was all served with rice.

It also came with Brined Cabbage. A bit of marinade mixed with cabbage for a side of vegetables.

For $12, you can add an extra Braised Pork. This was served in a bowl which we shared. This pork was not as fat as most places so you get lots of meat to chew on. The marinade was very savory and sweet. A very decent portion as well.

We also shared some snacks. This is the Taichung Sakura Shrimp Crackers ($36). You get three pieces, A lot of salt and pepper seasoning was added and the shrimp meat was firm while the exterior was very crunchy.

Taiwan Style Fried Cuttlefish Bean Curd Rolls ($30) also has three pieces. I liked this more. The wrapping was more crunchy and the cuttlefish meat was firm and savory. Lots of salt and pepper seasoning was generously added.

Portions were big and they do not skimp on the seasoning. Service is fast despite the huge number of take away orders they were receiving. As I live close enough, I'd definitely be back.
