Mandarin Grill + Bar recently has arranged a Sunset Menu. You can enjoy 3 courses with a glass of wine/cocktail/mocktail for 1288. The catch is you need to arrive at 6pm. The amuse bouche came and it was introduced in detail. The left one was beetroot and had a liquid centre and and it was advised to be finished in 1 bite as it may spill. The right one was a deep fried risotto and was definitely my favorite amuse bouche so far.
They have a whole trolley of olive oil and suggested two for me. The presentation was elegant. The bread was also very good and I had to control myself not to refill it as my menu hasn't even started yet.
For the appetizer, I chose the steak tartare. The seasoning of the tartare was definitely richer than Grand Hyatt and the bread was crispy.
The USDA Prime Rib of Beef did not disappoint. Despite the large piece, it was tender and aromatic. Despite there was mustard, I didn't add much of it as I didn't want it to overwhelm its flavor. The yorkshire pudding was crispy and the sides were all well seasoned.
I had some difficulty choosing which souffle I wanted but in the end I decided to try the strawberry. The souffle was airy and rich with rhubarb and strawberry. Just a point I didn't like was there was bit too much powdered sugar on top but I think this is just a personal preference.
Anyway, the meal was so good I already booked another visit late July though I will be using the HSBC premier card promotion "buy 1 get 1 free" for their other menu. Looking forward to that meal.
