Contrast is a coffee shop that had been on my radar for a while. Located in Cheung Sha Wan, there always seemed to be a lengthy line whenever I was in the area. As it was nearing Christmas, they had the place decorated with artwork from local artist Toballki. The cafe itself was a decent size with some seats facing outside so you get fresh air from the streets before you.
Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge and you order and pay at the cashier where they will bring the food to you when ready. They offer a variety of coffee along with non coffee choices.
Their food menu is concise, offering the usual cafe type food.
I decided on the latte ($38). The latte art was nice but the coffee itself was rather bland. Couldn't really detect much except a lot of milk. Rather disappointing considering it is supposed to be a coffee shop.
Boyfriend and I shared a Houseblend Affogato Pudding ($60). This was the only food item I was interested in as I had seen several photos online. Again disappointing. There was far too much gelatin added to it was a bit on the hard side. It wasn't as smooth and creamy as it should be. Not a lot of eggy custard taste as well.
And then I ruined it all! You are supposed to add the shot of espresso on top. I should have taken a sip of the espresso first before pouring it on because then I would have skipped this part. The espresso was terrible. Far too acidic and didn't go well with the pudding. It sadly destroyed it and I regret it deeply. I should have just let it be without the shot.
The food was not that good. The coffee was the most disappointing. As it's not even close to where I live and I have to purposely go all the way for this, I don't think I'd return. Nothing really made me want to go back.
