Visited for lunch on a lazy Sunday afternoon and didn’t need to que. This place is famous for its 8 hr slowed cooked pork cartilage curry with vegetables and rice, which was one of the dishes we ordered along with the roasted chicken ginger udon with egg for contrast.
The slow cooked pork cartilage is so tender and melts in you mouth, the tendon provides the chewy texture and is a great source of collagen, which is a bonus if you wanna reduce your wrinkles 😜 All this goodness has been absorbed and smothered with the curry which is a sweet japanese style curry and not spicy, which is good for those who don’t like spicy. The veges consisting of courgettes, carrots, beans and potatoes are crunchy and not over cooked provide a great balanced healthy and homely meal. It is like comfort food healthy style! There’s heaps of curry sauce left over to mix it with the rice and absorb it all.
Now for the roasted chicken ginger udon with egg dish which was pretty average, but it is up against the signature pork cartilage dish which is tough to beat. The soup broth is bland in my opinion and I didn’t get throwing in roasted chicken with crispy skin into the soup to make it soggy. Nevertheless, the udon noodle is chewy and elastic which is a sign of freshness, and I’m told the soft boiled egg (which my friend ate) was as it should be creamy yolk with a custard like egg white shell. There’s heaps of cabbage in the soup which again makes it a healthy balanced meal.
You can’t go past the slow cooked pork cartilage dish, it’s out of this world 🌎Amazingly, we were not kicked out in a hurry and were able to enjoy our meal slowly chatting the day away.
