My lil' bro had never had tsukemen before, so my sister and I decided to bring him to Shugetsu for dinner. Taste & Value:After studying the menu, my bro and I both got the 300g Tsukemen ($85). No matter what size you get: 100G, 200g or 300g, the price is the same. My sister got the Abura Ramen. My bro got his noodles warm, whereas I got them cold. My bro got his noodles warm, whereas I got them cold. Inside the broth, there were chunks of fatty pork with some pieces that had the skin attached to it, which was quite gross. The broth, omg was so so so so so salty! It was simply awful! Then, the noodles were so hard that it required some effort to chew. Both of us struggled to finish our noodles. The only acceptable item was the egg, which was creamy and tasty.
The Abura Ramen was a lot better than our tsukemen. We were reminded that although it was called "Scallop Ramen", there was no actual scallops in it. It was just made with oil from scallops. The flavour was light, but there; not salty like the tuskemen. How could the difference be so big.
Environment & Hygiene:Hygiene was okay, but the dude who was preparing the ramen had sweat pouring down from his face, which made me wonder if sweat would actually fall into the ramen bowl. (Making it more salty ). The environment was okay. It was quiet, and not crammed like most ramen places; we actually had room to move.
Service:The staff, who served us was friendly and informative.
Final Verdict:
Never Again.
