(English review below)这晚我同三位女士,因为怀念久别的日本,所以来到朋友预订的这间餐厅,试试他们的8周年set dinner。接待的侍应有礼貌,但餐厅虽然有足够人手却没有特别安排人手加快安排进场,所要排队等好一会。一进场,果然感受到浓厚的日本气氛。从木质装修,店员的招呼,到厨房飘出来的日式鲣鱼酱油香气,整个环境都令我感觉到突然从铜锣湾飞到日本。我们预定了榻榻米座位。榻榻米是地洞配椅背的坐立式,不用怕屈脚,地洞里面也很平滑干净,脱鞋后把双脚放进去感觉很舒适。我们坐在榻榻米,点了4份set dinner,另加梅酒同鸡泡鱼干,对晚餐充满期待。晚饭有不少菜式,而大部分菜式都是精致路线,特别是前菜,都是一口就吃完的,让人珍惜地慢慢吃,吃得更滋味。菜式太多,重点描述令人回味的两样。第一样是刺身。每种刺身都只有一件,但都鲜甜且厚身,香气充斥口里每一个角落,带来的幸福感,就是一期一会的感觉。同样让人回味的是火炙和牛。Set dinner另外有的串烧虽然有碳香,但绝对比不上和牛的脂肪烧出来的独特香味,而且做不到入口即溶的效果。以上两样都是我的嘴刁推介!其他食物都是细细碟,一碟接一碟

一进场,果然感受到浓厚的日本气氛。从木质装修,店员的招呼,到厨房飘出来的日式鲣鱼酱油香气,整个环境都令我感觉到突然从铜锣湾飞到日本。

其他食物都是细细碟,一碟接一碟,无惊也无喜,不过不得不提,所谓招牌荞麦面就让我大失所望。我已经不是用高尾山荞麦面的标准来比较,而只是用市面上最普通的荞麦面来比较,都觉得这里的招牌荞麦面不止不好吃,而是好难吃。没有荞麦香,没有弹性,面团粘在一起,吃下去好干又无味,虽然有荞麦面汁也返魂乏术。是我太嘴刁太主观吗?我觉得未必。同行三位女士胃口都不小,但她们都觉得难吃,一共给了我两人分量的荞麦面要我帮她们吃完。我那一刻觉得自己像个乞丐,因为自己肚饿而要吃别人施舍的食物,就算食物难吃也要挨下去。

这里气氛很好,不过收这个价钱的话,除了跟其他餐厅斗刺身和和牛的来货质素,更要在其他食物,特别是招牌菜下功夫喔⊙∀⊙!


This evening, three ladies and I visited this restaurant booked by one of them and tried its 8th anniversary set dinner, as we missed Japan so much.

The receptionist was polite, but although the restaurant had enough staff, there was no arrangement to speed up the entry, so we had to queue up for a while.

As soon as I entered the venue, I felt a strong Japanese atmosphere. From the wooden decoration, the greetings of waiters and waitresses, to the scent of Japanese bonito sauce wafting from the kitchen, the whole environment made me feel like I suddenly flew from Causeway Bay to Japan.

We reserved a tatami seat. The tatami got an underground layer and a chair back for proper sitting without bending our legs. The underground layer was very smooth and clean. It felt very comfortable with our feet. We ordered 4 set dinners plus plum wine and dried putterfish. We just sat on the tatami looking forward to the dinner.

There were quite some dishes in the set, mostly exquisite, especially the appetizers which only had single bites, which kind of made us cherish and slowly enjoy them. Among these many dishes, let’s talk about two that I enjoyed. The first one was sashimi. There was only one piece for each type of sashimi, but they were all fresh, sweet and thick. The fragrance filled every corner of our mouths, and the happiness was almost once in a lifetime. Equally memorable was the grilled wagyu. Although skewers in the set carried aroma from charcoal grill, they could not compete with the unique aroma of wagyu fats, and they could not melt in our mouths. My picky tongue recommends both of them!

Other small dishes came one after another without surprises, but the so-called signature soba noodles disappointed me so much that I need to mention. I was not comparing it with Takaoyama soba, but just the most common soba everywhere. This signature soba noodles was not only unpalatable, but it was a disaster. There was no smell of soba, the noodles had no elasticity, they stuck together, they were dry and tasteless, even the sauce could not help. Was I being too demanding or too subjective? I am afraid not. My three ladies got great appetites, but they all found it unpalatable as well. They diverted to me two portions of soba noodles requesting me to finish for them. At that moment, I felt like a beggar- as I was hungry, I had to eat whatever rubbish food others gave me.

The atmosphere here was very nice, but if they keep their rates, it is insufficient to just compete with other restaurants by the quality of their sourced sashimi and wagyu. They got to work hard on other dishes, especially their so-called signature dish! ⊙∀⊙
