You MUST make reservations if you decide to come here for lunch on a weekday. It will always be fully packed. A good seat is just a phonecall away...Food: 1. I had this one. recently i've been trying out and comparing the beef rice served by different japanese restaurants. Thus you'll only see me eating beef rice for a while, if i'm visiting jap restaurants. This one: [beef] i'd give it a 6.5/10. The beef itself is not tender despite the fact that it does have some fat content. And the beef should've been more thinly cut. It's not soft enough either. I would envision the beef in jap beef rice to be juicy, soft, thin-cut, very savoury, a teensy fat (just so it melts when you chew on it). [rice] good and plump grains. I liked the sauce. But they cld've given me more! [egg shreds]excellent idea to throw in some very finely cut fried egg shreds. They made the rice rather special. Even without the beef, the rice wld've tasted really nice. [onion] Soft, well seasoned, but they cld've given us a much more generous serving of onion. Do they not understand that it's a cheap and effective way to make customers more satisfied with their beef rices?
Steamed egg: real good. I ate all of it. Very smooth egg, slithers down your throat effortlessly, doesn't take any chewing. There's mushroom and bacon/chicken bits embedded inside the custard-like food item. Mmmm!
Udon: Ok la. nothing special. Clear broth.
Chocolate mochi Do you see the small mochi? It wld've tasted better if it were served cold. Oh well. didn't expect much.
2. Salmon and scallop bento
Friend had this. I didn't try coz i don't eat seafood. No comment. but it wasn't good enugh to impress her apparently...
Conclusion:
Yes, would visit again, to try different bentos. But REMEMBER TO MAKE RESErVATIONS!
