Breakfast time on a public holiday, every other shop in the Plaza was crowded but this one. So decided to give it a try (OK, retrospectively not wise to pick something nobody else picks).
The ambience was good. Could see the owner putting in efforts to make the place homely and comfortable. Unfortunately the good first impression quickly faded.
After ordering a bacon sarnie ($55), two scrambled eggs with toast ($50), a cup of tea and glass of iced latte, the waiter asked for $263. I asked if something was wrong as two drinks usually don't add up to HKD$170 at this sort of places (prices of the drinks were not listed in the menu). Instead of checking, he just insisted that it's the case. When I asked his colleague to come over and look it through, repeating my orders again, she found an error, and said it should be $273 instead! So $85 for a cup of tea? Fine, wasn't in the mood to move, so paid up. And asked for a receipt, just to find that an additional "Full breakfast" ($75) listed there. Got $75 back from the unapologitic staff after repeating my order the third time.
Somehow it took 20 minutes for them to make the food and drinks, with only two tables to serve.
The bacon and eggs tasted OK. Not good, but OK. The toast tasted strange, and you can see why from the photo below:
1. The bread stayed at least overnight before ending up on the plate
2. They didn't bother to even look at what they were serving
