this place came very highly rated according to this website...however, i went there recently and, surprisingly, was quite disappointed. the steak ("entrecote"), the specialty on the menu, was tasty and beefy but still managed to seem quite average (perhaps it was the thin steak, cut into strips, that detracted from the feeling of truly consuming a steak). the foie gras appetizer was too much fat and too little taste, and my companion and i found the fruit sauce slightly overpowering.the main po
the main point i want to make is regarding your expectations. with its checkered red-and-white tablecloths (covered by unsightly pale green paper) and diner ambiance, this is more of a family restaurant than anything else. it is not a fancy french restaurant.
i forgot to mention the escargots - they were possibly the best part of the meal. slightly grainy, but very tasty and paired very well with garlic mashed potatoes and a small mushrooom for each snail.
the escargots probably best sum up w's entrecote - home-style french cooking, tasty, unpretentious but a little too "vanilla" for some tastes.
