Dessert
truffles weren't bad. the dark truffle was sweeter, lower in alcohol, the light truffle was less sweet, much higher in champagne bitterness
Highlight of the day (other than fat oily salmon =D):
my friend + me both had this, neither of us tasted chestnut. its pretty much coffee + chocolate, but its delicious! its wet, liquidy, and strong coffee aroma. lovely!! only limited myself to one though. my personal favourite, others might find it dull and boring.
Verdict:
You get what you paid for. $458+10% for dinner. nearby places are all over $500, some even $600.
There were 2 corners of hot food (4 hot pots each corner), salad/lettuce/bread bar, desssert row, chef served section (the stuffed pork feet, roast beef, diy pasta), seafood/salad roundtable in the middle.
Variety-wise is low. Dishes are simple and nothing special. Some stuff were too salty, some a bit rough/overcooked. The desserts also had low variety. Cake-wise is most disappointing. The other selections (pots, pudding, brownies) weren't too satisfying either.
Service was awesome, nothing to complain about.
Other than food taste, the quality is pretty up to par. The sashimi were all fat and thick, even on the nigiri. Abolones arent common in buffet, so that's another feature. In terms of cooked food and desserts, there's not much to brag about.
If you want a simple buffet, it's worth a try.
If you want a satisfying buffet and want to be overwhelmed, or just wanna go to a buffet with lots of ooos & aahhhs, then hit another hotel.
