Hidden away in Causeway Bay, Love Cafe is a cute little Japanese restaurant with a varied and imaginative menu. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is comforting. We visited late on a Saturday night, after watching a slightly disappointing movie. We visited late on a Saturday night, after watching a slightly disappointing movie. My partner and I ordered a selection of different dishes between us, which were mostly fun and tasty. I had potato and pumpkin croquette, grilled asparagus, sizzling tofu, a tuna sashimi kebab(!), we shared some salmon sashimi, and I had a matcha ice cream mint cream soda to drink. The croquette was a good mix of crispy, crunchy outside and smooth creamy interior, the asparagus was thinner than I expected, but full of flavour, and the salmon sashimi was chunky and fresh. The sizzling tofu was tasty, with a nice firm skin which kept it from collapsing, and the tuna sashimi kebab, whimsically served sitting in a tiny little bathtub, was chewy and meaty. The matcha minty cream soda was a lovely surprise - I didn't expect the flavours to go together as well as they did, but I really enjoyed it.
There were quite a few other things on the menu that I'd like to try sometime in the future...
