Today’s weather was very good. My friend Joey and I went for an hour walk at Hutchison Park to relax and enjoy some fresh air. Afterthat, we walked down to Whampao area, and noticed that there was a new Japanese Fish market open similar to Tsujiki in Tokyo. We immediately walked in. As we didn’t feel like eating all raw food for lunch, we decided to try out this Oyster Bar which has a 3-course set lunch as well as we can order some oysters.
All the oysters were daily shipped, from either France or Ireland. The price was also very reasonable. All of them were for $58 each. We wanted to try 4 different ones, so based on our feedback, the restaurant manager recommended the following ones – L’Fine Oyster which has salty & full bodied taste, Rossigonol Feres Fines which has strong ocean favor and sweetness and smooth texture, Roland Lambery which is meaty and firm, and Fleur Des Daux which is sweet and balanced sea flavor. The oysters were good and clean, no rocks and sand, and matched the description as per the menu. For $58 each, I would say it’s very decent, as I had tried oysters that would be $78 or $88 in a more high end restaurant, but the quality was not even as good as this.
As we exercised a lot, we were both very hungry. So for the 3 course set lunch, I ordered Roasted chicken with seasonal vegetables and Joey ordered ribeye with crispy potato wedges. We planned to share and try out the dishes. Set lunch also comes with green salad, cream of mushroom soup and Vanilla cream puffs. The soup was very mushroomy, yummy and rich in favor. It’s made fresh from the kitchen, and not from any canned soup. With a $98 lunch and such quality of soup, we were very impressed. Both entrees also came out with very generous portion. The chicken was roasted with very crispy chicken. I didn’t ask what country was it originated from, but it had rich chicken taste, and not like any frozen chicken from Hong Kong style chai char tang. The steak also came out very nicely, about 12 oz big, and the meat was moist and juicy. For a set lunch of $148, just this piece of steak would worth the price.
We ordered some coffee and tea at the end. I would say if they have more selection of tea for us, it would be better. Everything else was good, and I would certainly come back for the soup and the steak lunch again !
