It's a birthday celebration on a Tuesday night. We dine at 8:30pm. Craving for Peking duck and found that time-square opened this new place featuring the Peking duck. We are a party of 4, ordered 4 dishes.
A duck meat taro clay pot with preserved plum sauce. A traditional Chinese Peking dish, the duck is very umami with the perfectly cooked and melt in your mouth taro and a quite well balanced sour and salty sauce of the plum, very yummy (although a bit too salty)and it's totally a dish to go with rice.
Then it's the salt and pepper fried squid. Fresh squid, very sweet and tender, cook til just right. Crunchy outside, but one down side, very salty again.
The main focus half a Peking duck, the portion is a bit smaller than I expected, we got half a duck around 14 pieces, 10 piece of wrapping a plate of cucumber, shallot, melon and pickled reddish and a sauce. The duck are very meaty, the skin is crispy, with the wrapping, sauce and pickled... it's very tasty.
Last dish is a vegetable clay pot with seafood soup. This dish I forgot to take photo, but it's soup is fresh, a lot of different type of vege, seafood also quite fresh.
Overall it's a pleasant experience, only that for it price the portion is a bit small and most of the dish take a longer than usual time to wait for... and some dish is a bit salty.
But the environment and services are definitely better than some of the traditional Peking duck restaurants.
