I am getting convinced that restaurant reviews in magazines in Hong Kong are just the publicist's write up cut down to fit the available space review space.Time after time I have read that Heirloom finally filled the need in Hong Kong for a true taco.So, I ordered the tacos for $120 for 4. Guess what? The tacos are tiny- about the size of a man's watch face. Maybe 3 cm diameter and open faced with strange toppings. Having eaten those and still starving I ordered a salad which turned out to be purple cabbage with a vinegar dressing... not good at all.
For this much money I could have gone to a decent eatery for a high quality set lunch.
The wait staff is untrained and inattentive especially for diners upstairs.
There were several young mothers with little girls having tea and desserts and maybe that is the niche for Heirloom.
Certainly not a decent lunch.
PLEASE: professional reviewers do your readers a favor and actually go eat at the restaurant you review. And don't just write something positive because you like the publicist or the owner of the place.
The rest of us: beware of what you read in many publications.
