Tonight my friend took me to Hak Po Street for hotpot, he said that the food is very yummy and the staff are friendly. So I met him there and went in to try it out. We chose the pickled veggie with pork stomach and pepper soup and added duck because the staff recommended to add duck instead of chicken for this soup. Tonight my friend took me to Hak Po Street for hotpot, he said that the food is very yummy and the staff are friendly.
So I met him there and went in to try it out.

We chose the pickled veggie with pork stomach and pepper soup and added duck because the staff recommended to add duck instead of chicken for this soup. The pot came around 15 minutes later and while waiting for it to boil, there was a nice smell. Once it was ready, we tried the soup; it was delicious and peppery. The ducks were tasty and full of flavour, the texture was soft and crispy. There were lots of duck pieces and they were meaty. What I like about this soup is the pickled veggies, they were not sour like the others but very sweet indeed! The staff told us that's because the chef is from "Minnan" and that's how they make it there. I found that very special. As for the pork stomach, the chef sliced it into thin stripes and they were very soft and easy to chew.

Angus beef:
Beef is a must order item for hotpot, we got the recommended Angus beef. These beef were freshly sliced and they looked very fresh as the colour was very red. It didn't need a long time to cook it, I turn it over and over a few times and then it was ready. The beef was tender and juicy, I like the strong beefy flavour.

Goose intestines:
I haven't had goose intestines for a long time. Before I cook them, they were long but once I put them in the pot, they shrink into small pieces. They were actually very yummy and crunchy, I really like them.

Crab sticks:
My friend ordered some Japanese crab sticks, they didn't take long to cook either. The texture was soft and tasted good.

Bitter melon:
The owner is a very nice couple, the wife liked to talk to everyone and treated everyone like their favourite guests! While talking with her, she gave us some bitter melon, she said these go very well with the soup and she was right. I waited until the bitter melons were very soft and ate it with the soup, they matched very well.

We also got the restaurant special "the bomb", this is actually a Thai dish, the chef wrapped the black preserved egg with shrimp paste and then deep fried it. It was delicious! The shrimp paste tasted so good with the preserved egg, the shrimp paste was crispy on the outside and crunchy in the inside. The preserved egg was soft and flavourful.

To finish up our meal, the owner gave us her homemade dessert. The mango tofu pudding and black glutinous rice soup. They were delicious and refreshing!

This restaurant also provides extra big glass of drinks, I got the salted lime with 7 up and my friend got the hoeggarden.
