I went to Alez Alez for the first time last weekend. Being someone who has lived in New York for several years (and ate a lot of top-notch restaurants there), and have been to various parts of the world, here are my commentsecor - Alez Alez's decor was superb. Every table has their private space, which is mostly unintruded. The 6 of us managed to have a very private dinner in our own dining room and table. We could talk, chit chat and laugh without the worry of others attention. Just wonder

Service - The waitresses were very attentive and offered a friendly smile each time it was served. Good job.
Food - Course by course, the following listed what I ate:
1) Smoked Duck Breast Salad - the duck was good, as the meat was tender and tasty. The salad was slightly wet, more wet than I prefer, but still very much acceptable;
2) Pan-Fried Gooseliver with Caramel Apple - I was expecting a good piece of foie gras, but at the end the taste of this was a little flat. Slightly disappointing but acceptable;
3) Seafood Bouillabaisse - Lots of seafood in this stew-soup, but the soup itself, while expecting to be creamy, was very thin. Very much lack in the body. The most disappointing of all;
4) Sherbet - It was a good 'between meals' dessert to stir up the appetite again;
5) Roasted Rack of Lamb with Provencale Herbs - The lamb was nicely done. The taste was just right and the texture was tendor, properly tendor. Although I have had better ones, this one is for sure above average;
6) Baked Mango Roll with Mixed Fruit - Dessert. It was an interesting way to make this, with the Mango put in a fried flour shell (sort of like fried wonton). It was...interesting, not sure if it is the best way to have this but it tasted good and a good finish of the meal.
Have I had better French food? In many places. Was this meal good enough? Considering it is only $580, and the fact that I had 6 courses, it was worth its dollar, while not exceeding the value.
