Haven't really been to this 'low end' version of Watami (as if Watami isn't bad enough haha), but somehow I got attracted by the low prices. Tried 2 things:鯖塩焼き定食 - This was actually better than expected, as the Mackerel had less fishiness than expected, plus it was quite oily as it should. In the meal, you get half a fish. Perhaps it was slightly too dry but for only $34 including rice, salad, fish + grated radish, miso soup and a drink - I honestly think this quality was unbeatable vs price. T

This was also way better than a similar dish we had at 大戸屋 at more than double the price.
Fried 豚Katsu+Eggs Rice 定食 -
This is a fried pork then recooked in stock and eggs, therefore as expected its 'soft'. Perhaps this isn't expected by most customers but Japan has many dishes which are first fried then softened up with broth or soup again, including this and Tempura dishes, not unlike certain 炆 dishes in Hong Kong/Chinese, such as pork and fishes, etc.
I think the batter on the pork was way too thick, but amazingly the pork was really tender and had a marinated taste. I wouldn't recommend this dish as such - but personally I wouldn't mind eating this for lunch, seeing how cheap this is. Around $3X for the set.
OVERALL, the food at this shop was very low end stuff, looking at the menu and its definitely less interesting that Watami, its bigger brother. However, the 鯖塩焼き定食 was surprisingly good for only $34, as it was better than the same dish I've tried in Japan's lower end restaurants.
