It's my girlfriend's birthday. What I would like to comment is, when I was booking this restaurant, I called the staff two days in prior that I would like to borrow a guitar for a song because I wanted to give my girlfriend a surprise. The staff told me that she was not sure. She will get back to me. I don't know if she really did not call me back or I simply missed the call, I thought it's not gonna be possible.
During the night, the band started playing the music at around 7 ish. The music is great, although seems not every diner here enjoys and gives too much attention to them. Especially I saw the band went to the table next to us and sang to another couple. One of them just kept looking at the phone. It was totally disrespectful!! Despite this, the band members are still very professional. They kept playing the music and put the smile on all the time. I would have been pissed off if I were one of the band members.
For some reasons, the band just left the dining room and it was just the first table they approached (I heard from the phone that the band will go over every table). We thought it might be something wrong or I got the wrong message, but we didn't want to ruin our dinner so we just continued the rest of our dinner.
After finishing the dinner and the payment, when we were leaving, we saw the band at the entrance singing to the table at that side. We were attracted by their music.
Now here is the magic moment -- one of the guitarists ask me if I wanted to borrow the guitar, he said it's totally fine and he will be letting me use it after they finish this song with this table. I was completely shocked -- I did not expect they would recognise me (remember I was already away from my table and walking half way through) and remember my request. I hesitate for a moment and I somehow try to turn down his suggestion since we were leaving anyway. But I really, really appreciate that he kept encouraging me to wait for a minute and let them play the song to my girlfriend.
In fact, I was not well-prepared. As I mentioned above, I thought I was not gonna get the guitar. I played guitars before but it has been a few years. Anyway, so after they finished the song with that table, the guitarist asked me to take the guitar and I honestly told him I could not play. But I would like to have the band to play the music for me and let me sing a love song to my girlfriend to celebrate her birthday. When I told the band the song, they are very professional, apart from the chord itself, they even know how to play the guitar intro and even know the lyrics for 100% (of course the song I chose is a classic one). The singer of the band also helped us to film the video so that I could hold my GF's hand. The guitarists also showed a lot of support when I was out of pitch and pace lol. Also, the harmony from the band is extremely professional and accurate. My GF was profoundly surprised and touched by this whole experience (including me actually). This is definitely making our night to climax. We will never forget this night in Sabatini.
The experience we had with the service from the waiters was honestly quite bad and questionable. Yes, they were indeed well-trained with the "default-caring-script" but somehow we two both could feel the waiters were pushing us to order food/drinks and giving us "black face" and sigh for no reason.
However, the band has definitely brought us from the hell to heaven. If you are the members of the band reading this post, I would really want to thank and credit you here again, for your professionalism and passion! I could see that the band truly likes their performance here and get really well-engaged with the audience. I saw they interacted very well with the small kid when we were leaving. I DO really hope everyone could pay attention to this amazing band and respect their effort! Thanks for giving us an unforgettable night. We wish we had taken a photo together.
