I love Taiwanese food. It's heartwarming and mix of sweet and savory that is just right for me. So, when boyfriend asked what I wanted for lunch, I mentioned this place called Knock Knock Cafe in Mong Kok, reassuring him it served Taiwanese food.Located on Argyle Street, a couple of streets away from Langham Place is white wooden cafe. They have a cake display in the front and it's decorated like a cafe. It seemed to have a Teawood type of feel. It was lunch time and the place was nearly full.
Located on Argyle Street, a couple of streets away from Langham Place is white wooden cafe. They have a cake display in the front and it's decorated like a cafe. It seemed to have a Teawood type of feel. It was lunch time and the place was nearly full. Luckily, there was still a table for two.
They had a lunch set menu which included a free drink. Or upgrade for something else. Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge.
If you are not interested in the lunch sets, they have a la carte.
And even more drinks.
We didn't want the free drink so we upgraded $8 for the cold bubble milk tea. A bit much milk and not enough tea flavor. The tapioca pearls were super chewy but flavorless.
Popcorn Chicken and Marinated Ground Pork with Rice ($52). Originally boyfriend ordered this but then I ended up eating this as the one I ordered was too spicy. The rice was a bit on the wet side. The meat sauce was super sweet and I quite liked it that way. The popcorn chicken was dry and hard but at least not too salty.
Beef Soup Noodles ($52). I originally ordered this but it turned out to be too salty for me. The soup had soaked up all the fresh chili peppers, making it far too spicy for me. Even boyfriend remarked it was pretty spicy. The noodles, though, were ok. Chewy and they were the round thick kind. Not the flat ones. The meat was not too tender and was a bit hard to chew at parts.
Not that great but not that bad either. Price was fairly inexpensive. Service was a bit confused at times as dishes were placed in front of us and then realized it wasn't ours was whisked away. I'm unsure if I'd return again but I wouldn't not return.
