I always think there aren't that many choices for western food in Shatin. There are mainly chain restaurants in Shatin. On my birthday, I found this restaurant on openrice, after I read some reviews about this restaurant, it seems to be quite a nice place! The decor is a bit old fashion and a bit cold. The decor is a bit old fashion and a bit cold. It's not like the usual italian restaurants which always feel very warm and welcoming. It was quite empty when I got into the restaurant. Despite the unwelcome felling, the staffs are actually very friendly and attentive. They explained the menu quite well and gave us some recommendation.
At the end, my mum and dad ordered set dinners which had 3 courses and I ordered a seasonal special set menu which had 4 courses. Also a bottle of prosecco!
Starter:
1)Grilled mediterranean vegetable with smoked salmon - salmon was so so, but the grilled veg was really nice
2)Parma Ham with honeydew melon - parma ham wasn't mature enough, quite disappointing, I could taste the saltiness only.... there was no aroma at all
3)Mixed seafood salad - was too vinegary, and not enough herbs and olive oil, was average.
Soup:
Tomato consumme with gnocchi - was very light, and it was the first time I had gnocchi which mixed with some sort of meat or fish! haha I couldn't tell!
Main Course:
1) Australian Wagyu Beef steak - we order a medium rare steak, but the staff suggested to have it rare as the steak was quite thin, and we took his advice. Steak was brilliant, very tender, full of flavour, juicy and wasn't too fatty! was lovely!
2) Lamb rack with anchovy dressing - dad had it nearly well done. lamb was nice and tender and the achovy dressing was really tasty and it wasn't too salty neither! nice!
3) Scallop and king prawn spaghetti in presto creamy sauce - WOW, I really like this dish! The texture of the spaghetti was al dente! the creamy sauce wasn't too creamy and i could taste the herbs. King prawn and scallops were fresh I thought this dish was very authentic! It was my favourite!
Dessert:
we all ordred blueberry pana cotta! nice presentation, but it was very creamy almost like a mousse, it was ok, edible. I have never had a pana cotta like that before, the one i usually have is more like a pudding, and I definitely prefer the firmer version.
Overall:
Main Course was great, but the starter and dessert need to be improved. Usually, the starter suppose to be really tasty to induce your appetite. But I wasn't so keen on all the starters.
