I love theme restaurants. I go to quite a few even when I'm traveling. Mui Kee Cookfood Stall is a restaurant that looks like a dai pai dong. Located in Tsim Sha Tsui, it's a popular place with a long queue. I've actually never been here but it seemed all my friends have and they seem to bring their tourist or new ex-pat friends here. They thought it was insane that I had never been here, so on this day, they took me here! Tonight I was the tourist! We arrived at 6 PM and there was no queue so we
We arrived at 6 PM and there was no queue so we got a table very quickly. However, as we ate, the place filled up quickly and there was long queue when we left around 9 PM.
The inside of the restaurant is set up to look like a dai pai dong, complete with plastic stools for sitting. The walls had maps of Hong Kong's transportation system. I thought that was pretty neat! Menu is in Chinese only. There is no service charge and cash only. Credit cards not accepted. Service was like a dai pai dong. No smiles but ask and they will quickly get it for you. Also, when we ordered, food came out 5 minutes later. Seriously. Five minutes later. The food was piping hot, too! How can you cook everything in 5 minutes??
