瓊天 (English name: Canteen) opened recently in Causeway Bay. I walked by it several times and decided to give it a try during tea time.It looked small but entering it there was more seats in the back. Seating was also quite spacious.Menu is in English and Chinese with some parts in Chinese only. There is no 10% service charge and you pay on your way out. They also offer a tea set menu that was hidden away in the very back of the menu. It wasn't noted anywhere while coming in as well and they didn't tell me about it. I wasn't really shown this as the staff kept hoovering over me and pointing at various parts of the menu. Probably trying to deter you from knowing about this hidden page.
I ordered a Hainan chicken rice ($65, but tea time has a 10% discount). It came with either a drink. Soup is additional cost as it's a double boiled soup which they stressed was also their specialty. The rice was ok. Not too oily and a decent amount of flavour. The chicken was a decent size portion and was a bit on the salty side. It came with a Thai dipping sauce that was a bit more sweet with a hint of spice. There was also some ground ginger.
Upon paying, they gave me a free package of disinfectant wet wipes.
It was ok and prices were expensive. The place was clean and tidy. Though next time I'll know there is an afternoon tea menu to choose from.
