Decided to have my second date in this restaurant because of a friend's recommendation. Very traditional and the food is good.....Actually in the first place I am not sure where to go because my date just said she wanted to have japanese food so I have done my research and have this restaurant in my shortlist.Once my date has made her decision in having sashimi, then I decided to go to "The Mon". Actually in the first place I am not sure where to go because my date just said she wanted to have japanese food so I have done my research and have this restaurant in my shortlist.
Once my date has made her decision in having sashimi, then I decided to go to "The Mon". It was 8:15 already and I called in to ask whether there is any table available but no, so I immediately make a reservation for 8:30. Luckily the receptionist allowed me to do that and by the time when we reached there, there were about 15 people (walk-in customers) waiting at the front door. So it only took me 5 mins to get a table.... lucky me ^v^
My date was not very hungry so we only ordered sashimi, sushi and salad together with a bottle of saki.
Sashimi: We ordered a ten piece special with Toro cost $260. There is a cheaper ten piece one but with only ordinary thing like salmon. The quality is good but eventually the Toro was the worst among the all. The toro was not defrosted very well that still have a bit of those "icey" taste, but the overall is good. The prawn is especially nice.
Sushi: We ordered a six pieces set with salmon, scallop, tuna, etc. The quality is good and the portion is big (lucky I didn't order anything more)
Salad: It was a 軟殼蟹salad, the 軟殼蟹was nice... well fried but I don't like the sauce, too sour but my date liked it.
Since both my sushi and sashimi have prawn so there were prawn heads left, the waiter asked me how did i want it so we decided to make soup with it. It was prawn head miso soup and it was very sweet.
The service was good while they were agile in pouring and serving also with good manner when we made our orders. The environment was quite good, dark (^v^) but unlucky the next table had little kids and they were so noisy....
Overall it was a nice meal but it maybe a bit costly.
