I’m a huge soufflé pancake fan, and when I heard about Tera, which is run by a Cordon Bleu trained chef, I knew I had to try it out! This Japanese inspired cafe incorporates a bright minimalistic wooden design, which transports diners to a Japanese temple setting and makes it the perfect place to relax and enjoy some good food.Pic 1️⃣: Hazelnut Hojicha Soufflé Pancake / 榛子焙茶梳乎厘班戟 - $138 hkd 🥞 — This unique flavour combination was what initially caught my eye, but also seeing that this is a limited

— This unique flavour combination was what initially caught my eye, but also seeing that this is a limited offer item gave me another reason to order it! The soufflé pancakes were light and fluffy, with a rich eggy flavour to them. Batter also had the perfect amount of sweetness to it. I personally thought the chocolate hazelnut crisps stole the spotlight which meant the hojicha taste didn’t really come through. The hojicha taste was quite faint but had a nice aroma to it. Fortunately, the hojicha jelly cubes on the side helped intensify the tea flavour slightly but it still could’ve been stronger in my opinion. The flavours in this worked well together and there was a contrast of textures with the chocolate crisps. I think the dish could do with some whipped cream to help lighten the richness of the chocolate.
Pic 2️⃣: Soft Boiled Egg and Grilled Bacon with Waffle / 溏心蛋煙肉煎肉腸配窩夫 - $78 hkd 🧇
— Good value for the price! This dish is great for those with a smaller appetite or even just a light meal option. All of the elements on the plate were well cooked and gave the dish a nice palette of colours and flavours. The waffles were really tasty too, with a crispy exterior and warm pillowy interior, this was a match made in heaven. Only thing I would say is that their waffles were super sweet, assuming that they use the same batter for the their dessert waffles as well. This confused my tastebuds a bit when combining all of the savoury elements together.
Pic 3️⃣: Japanese Sakura Shrimp Spaghetti / 日本櫻花蝦意粉 - $88 hkd
— Very average, a Wafu-style pasta dish with simple flavours. Everything was well seasoned but nothing too special. Thought the name was a bit misleading though as the dish didn’t really taste of sakura shrimp, as they were just simply sprinkled on top. There was barely any sauce in this which made it a little dry. The mushrooms absorbed the sauce nicely and were able to help with a bit of extra flavour.
Overall rating:
😋Taste: Soufflé pancakes were definitely the highlight, savoury dishes could do with some improvement, but I’d be happy to return for their pancakes!
📍Ambiance: Bright and comfortable interior, staff are friendly
⭐️Would visit again?: Yes, but just for their pancakes
